One Student Review of Dublin Institute of Technology

  • DIT is ok. Like most colleges in Ireland, the yearly fee is €3,500 a year, which to US students seems like almost free. But to some European students it’s expensive because some of them have free education or cheaper costs. To us Irish, it seems like they are stealing our money as we get almost nothing out of it. Poor services, awful over priced canteens, lazy staff and very old buildings that are dark and cold…

DIT does have a huge range of subjects. I know a lot of people who love DIT, they love being there and all the people in it. I personally think everyone is lazy and unbothered. There is such a lack of motivation in the classrooms, no one really cares about anything I’ve found. Most lecturers are also lazy… there’s hardly any teaching hours and a lot of group projects. So basically it’s great for slackers… but is not so great when you wish you could go to classes excited about something or feel motivated or enthusiastic.

The Cathal Brugha Street campus is an absolute disaster, the Aungier Street is pretty good, they have a lot of good computer facilities and a nice cafe/ restaurant area. But none of that matters if you are in any other campus. Hopefully Grangegorman will solve all those problems (new big facility everyone will eventually merge into).

Basically, if you are looking for an average 4 years of teaching to get an average grade in a degree, go for DIT.

    Overall Score: (3/5.00)
