University with a generally good reputation, since it’s the oldest in the Netherlands.
Some professors are quite good, while many are not. Many of the professors are incredibly arrogant and look down on students.
Major problems occurred when the several master programmes started organising the theses of students into seminars. Especially the motivated students, who were interested in a specific topic, had troubles. The university forced a large groups of students to wait a year before trying again.
It is not recommended to start studying at this university. Even at the master level many ‘teachers’ are only PhD students. The quality of the courses is very low. It is easy, nor cheap to find housing in Leiden. And if you run into trouble with your thesis supervisor (which occurred amazingly often) the teacher is always right.
