Announcing Companion Laptops by HP – Discount Coupon Code 2009

A few weeks ago we at CollegeTimes wrote an overview of the college laptop scene for 2009. Computer technology is advancing rapidly and its hard to know what features to expect in a reasonably priced laptop these days, so check out that post if you haven’t!

Anyway, as part of that basic college laptop overview, HP generously sent us a slick new HP dv2 laptop to check out. It is an awesome mid-sized laptop (slightly larger than a so-called “netbook”). Smallish laptops have become popular in recent years due to their steadily dropping prices and very portable size.

This summer, however, HP is leading the charge to announce a new concept which it is calling “Companion PCs” or “Companion Laptops.” Tradition goes like this: most tech savvy young college students love a portable computer, yet when they get home from class they get ticked off rather quickly at their laptop’s tiny little screen size (assuming they merely purchased a “netbook” or other mini sized laptop) as soon as they want to watch a movie or, say, build a website.

Sooo… enter HP. Their “Companion PC” idea proposes “why not create a companion bundle combining both a large screen laptop for home use with a mini sized laptop for portable use?”… and the concept seems to be taking off rapidly with the attractive prices that HP is offering this year.

So what of these companion bundles? Well, HP just sent CollegeTimes one of those brand spankin’ new companion bundles which included a 16 inch dv6 laptop running the very fast Windows Vista Ultimate complete with HDMI, eSATA, FireWire, USB, WebCam, Mic, Blu-Ray Drive, fingerprint scanner… and even a full keyboard! Haha. And it came with the uber cute HP Mini 110 as its sort of “pod” baby running Windows XP SP3. Of course, one of the main hesitations most customers would have is the worry of keeping TWO computers updated and synced rather than simply one. And that’s exactly why all HP mini laptops come bundled with free sync software and cables, so that you can come home from class/travel and immediately sync up to your mother machine. (Note: there are many versions of this so called “companion bundle” that HP is promoting this summer. See below for current promotion.)

  3. @Dave, hmmm… did you use NBW48735 ??

For this new code remember: You must add both the mini 110 and dv6t into your cart to receive the discount.

You might have to click “checkout” and begin payment process before the coupon code is applied to your purchase, I’m not sure.

  4. The dv6 model’s companion code (the new one) as of 08-10-09 does not work…is there a correct one?
