Fantastic university which is becoming more academically challenging while more fun at the same time. Loved my time here and came home a transformed person.
For any field where an international or Italian location is relevant (Art History, International Relations or Business…) this is as good as it gets in Italy at an American standard. The school is small and has a close-knit community, friendly atmosphere, onsite curriculum. Location is fantastic, literally steps away from a picturesque park, the American Academy, historic villas (including the campus) and ancient ruins. No, the academics aren’t vigorous, but if you choose a demanding degree and professors you’ll be challenged, and if you’re a self-starter this is really an excellent place to study, learn another language, have opportunities to travel through coursework and independently, meet students from all over the world, and have a life outside of the university. They do make an effort to find students great internships, and they have a few very specific degrees which are great for those who know what field they’d like to pursue. In short, a great place with a positive environment for go-getters, but you might find yourself lost if you come here without much direction, unwilling to learn Italian and meet locals, and expecting the staff and administration to hold your hand. Go wolves!
I wasn’t sure what to expect, but it was a good experience. Travel, hang out with italians. Also, they offer great classes (though not very many), so take advantage of all the on-site stuff!
It was great! The profs really care about you and the field trips are cool. Best time of my life!
