I would have put 0 stars if they had let me. I am a Nursing student at BCC. Every class I took there before getting into the nursing program was laughably easy. Adjunct professors and new professors are almost all across the board awesome. There are some great people in the Biology department. However, the Nursing department is staffed by unreliable, disorganized, incompetent and malicious professors who hold students to high standards that they themselves do not meet. One professor in a gatekeeper class (one you have to pass on your first try or you are out of the program) is American but has a poor grasp of the English language because she is so ghetto but the course she teaches is about “communications.” She treats students like worthless peasants and does not explain herself when questioned. Her lectures often consist of her reading something she photocopied from a book we were not even assigned. A full 40% of the questions on her exams seem to come straight out of her ass. She is physically imposing, and intimidating and sometimes makes “mistakes” correcting her exams, robbing students of several points each time, especially if she doesn’t like them. Her insane and lazy style of teaching drives students to cheat and cheating is rampant throughout the department. If you are ESL, cheating is the only way you will pass this course. Many times she will tell one student a crucial piece of information and expect them to tell the whole class (like that the exam is in a different room). The department regularly sends e-mails around midnight regarding things that students have to do/attend the next day. The Pharmacology rules are completely bizarre and make no sense, marking entire questions wrong (with the correct answer on the line) because you took your long division in your scratch work one decimal too far. The department is completely autocratic and there seems to be no responsible competent and sane person on that entire floor. I have never been treated with such cruel disregard by such incompetent people in my life. I hold a BA and a MS and have never gotten anything less than an A- in my entire college career. This department gets off on jerking you around for no good reason, taking your money and spitting in your face.
