2 Student Reviews of California State University : Long Beach

  • Great school to attend. The classes are well worth the money and you’ll gain knowledge through dedication, hard work and communication with professors. There are events througout the week to get students invovled which is a major plus. School spirit is wonderful here and everyone is so invovled in the sports here, it’s wonderful! Go 49ers!

  • I was looking forward to coming here a long time ago, but as time went on, I no longer felt welcome on campus. The students were okay my first few years, but got worse my last three years as I had problems with them mistreating me for no apparent reason (I have ADHD) and I was the butt of some of the other student’s jokes. I would also get ridiculed by some of the professors because of my challenges and making friends with my peers grew harder as I had to know if they were trying to take advantage of me. The campus grew to be unsafe as bicycling and skateboarding were allowed on campus by the administrators and I have had near misses and it scares me because someone else who has a phsycial disability, senior, and kids could get run over by the students. Worse, they either flash a gang sign or flip you off. The only way I could get involved with noontime events is to give away my personal info and I could not do any events because of that. This school sells your name and email to clowns who try to steal your identity.

The parents and especially the students who have kids were pretty rude. Some of the parents were drama queens and the student-parents allowed their kids to run around campus unattended until someone rats them out. The image of the school is falling apart because I noticed the in thing for other females was skimpy clothes that show either the butt or breasts. I have noticed an increase in other females showing too much cleavage to the point part of their breasts are showing. I do not feel comfortable with that and I am a minority because I want to cover up. The boys are worse as they are constantly running around in gang attire and dress like pimps. The image is becoming way too sexual for me to handle.

The boys-only one thing some of these boys want and that is sex.

There is way too much drinking and drugs going on at this school and nothing ever gets done. There is a lot of tagging at school and the janitors never clean it up and the people responsible get away with it rather than face the music. As for facing the music, it is apparent that when someone committs a crime here, they walk and that is unacceptable.

Hollywood-The people here spend way too much time blabbering about celebrity gossip rather than focusing on why they are here. In addition, I see some of the people from here on TV and they make complete jack somethings out of themselves it is really bad.

What was once a decent school is falling apart and the administration (who I ranked the worst) needs to wake up and look at the problems going on at school and try to correct them and start enforcing the rules so that everyone is welcome here.

I left after a while, knowing that I am no longer welcome.

Apparently, what goes on at CSULB spills to the rest of the state-I was terrified to discover that the students skateboarding on city sidewalks in O.C. were CSULB students because I have had problems with these kids before. In addition, drunk students have been running around in my city and it was a good thing that I left recently. I have been bullied by these students on campus and even off campus and I had to have my name yanked off the school’s mailing list, so they’ll back off. Not only was i bullied, some of my friends and other people were also tormented. The profs. do very little to contain the on-campus problems and leave it up to the students to go figure. The administrators do not listen to concerned citizens and throw them under the bus and one of these days, these administrators will find themselves being sued by someone for reckless student conduct.
I was in a group recently that was for students with disabilities and somehow, some non-disabled students were allowed to join and they were rude to the disabled students and nobody did anything to stop that, so I dropped out of the group.
I refuse to take any more academic courses here, knowing I am no longer welcome.

If you are not up to current events and or celebrity talk, it is very tough to fit in period. From big named topics from The Runaway Bride (05), Duke Lacrosse Case (06), VA Tech (07), Janet Jackson (04), Miley Cyrus (08), Tiger Woods (09), Lindsay Lohan/Charlie Sheen (010), I don’t feel comfortable talking about these things becasue the people, and ESPECIALLY THE PROFESSORS, waste class time talking about this, nothing gets done in the workworld and then I wound up with extra homework. I developed a strong dislike for coming here after there is a high number of drunks, druggies, rude students in general, bullying, and intolerance for people with disabilities and the veterans next door at the VA Hospital. The vets have enough problems (phys. and mental) and the students are bullies-they tease the veterans off campus and it is bad enough with the problems the veterans got. Where is the respect at this school anymore???

The place is in disrepair-graffitti everywhere, bathrooms never cleaned, the a/c on when it is cold outside and the heat when it is hot outside. Where is the logic???

There were some programs that were beneficial towards my education, but most of the programs were for the rich kids or the professors’ pets. That is wrong and the image of Prosepctor is falling backwards with the administrators having no ethics whatsoever.
