I was on the phone with an on line supervisor of Mercy College’s on line degree program. Not only was she (Ms. Carmichael) insensitive to me, she was very insulting, unprofessional and condenscending. She stated quite directly that I was not competent enough to navigate around the https://www.mercy.edu site. In addition, she did not allow me to explain that I had just woke up out of a deep sleep when she had called.
I have several years of experience attending a few colleges in person and on line. Excellent universities like Capella U and Kaplan U and Community College of Phila. Now that I wanted to pursue an on line degree at Mercy, this woman inferred that I did not read the description accurately for a major that was not entirely on line. The description seemed misleading at first. Their Spanish program can be completed on line. However, only 50% can be completed she told me.
Ok.. That’s alright. No it wasn’t.
However, when Ms. Carmichael went on telling me about their web site, this program and its curriculum she muttered that it’s students like me that can’t get around their web site that can’t do well… What? What did that mean? Then she told me that I should read the catalog and try to understand what it says. That is why I called the college in the first place to get more explanation about an on line program that is suppose to be 100% on line when it isn’t.
Hey I have 3.00 average in on line education and have accumulated almost 75 credits. A’s, B’s. Been on the Dean’s list once. That would not make me incompetent?
Ms. Carmichael created so much pathetic confusion in addressing my questions and berating me that I had to interject.
In short, I had to end the conversation immediately before I told her a few things about her rude behavior.
Therefore, I had to put this comment out before she tries to tear down someone else’s dream. Thanks to the Almighty, there are other schools that would think highly of me enough to be able read.
And by the way, my low rating of Mercy College is not reflecting on Mercy College-just for Ms. Leslie Carmichael for being so misbehaved that not even a newt would apply to the college…
