Ouachita is a great school, and this is not coming from some legacy who was groomed for the campus. I came to Ouachita and hated it at first, but returned after a few years to complete my degree. The key to “surviving” at this school (and probably any school) is GET INVOLVED! It makes a world of difference. I went from literally hating it (so much that I dropped out) to being a proud alum who intends on grooming my kids to be legacies here. The classes are small enough that the professors notice (and care) if you miss class, and they will challenge you… but to me, that’s why it has such a great reputation in its region. The town surrounding OBU is boring, but like I said — get involved — your friends will make it fun. If you spend all your time thinking about how you’re out in the country with nothing to do, you will be miserable. Embrace the country life!! You will love it! And it’s ONLY four years… you have your whole life to live in a fast paced city. Spend some time doing something different. TRUST ME. You’ll look back on those college years with fondness.
