It is said that Rider University has received several key awards for their outstanding faculty and have produced some influential students; however, from first-hand experience, I have found this to be greatly exaggerated. The faculty there are a joke! They are secluded, isolated and the “challenge” they offer college students is lacking and weak. The courses feel more like a run-down honors high school class. Although that is not to say I have not had some amazing professors there, but the majority of the classes I took were so dumbed down I became bored and uninterested.
As far as the academic life goes, it’s decent when you have friends. If you are new and have no one to socialize with, then the campus feels more like a prison, where you can’t go anywhere except to the campus diner and gym.
Which brings me to the extracurricular activities; one word can best describe them – lacking. The school offers very little engaging clubs. In fact, most of the clubs remain hidden to the populace. Rider does not advertise the clubs’ existence too well; and if you are expecting posters and proud announcements from these “invisible” clubs, then prepare to be disappointed. They do not advertise both electronically and socially.
The only decent component of Rider is its student-to-teacher faculty; the professors can give you more time; however, that comes back to the argument of the laziness and dullness of the professors.
Overall, RIDER UNIVERSITY IS A JOKE OF A SCHOOL! Be warned now – DO NOT ATTEND RIDER UNIVERSITY! You honestly deserve to go somewhere better; a place where you will be challenged and have fun. Personally, I don’t know where that is for you, but unless you’re the type of person who favors eating stale crackers for 3 solid meals a day and have the personality and intelligence of Frankesnstein, then feel free to attend Rider University.
My regret is that I did not read a review like this before I transferred to Rider as a Junior.
