Stony Brook’s College of Nursing is outstanding! I highly recommend the Advanced Nursing programs. You will be prepared to enter practice as a competent clinician!
This schools teachers are horrible they don’t help out there students at all your on your own.you have to buy really expensive books. Classes are extremely hard, and you basically have to live on blackboard b/c teachers will pile on the homework as the week goes on… Had to say goodbye to a lot my weekend life too. Going to farmingdale
Some people say the time spent in a University completely alters a man course of life in positive way. Let me tell you about my experience at Stony Brook. I was a commuter student, a transfer student; so I have been around University block. While a student at Stony Brook University I wound up in a life threatening situation their university hospital, where they falsely diagnosed me with a disorder I didn’t any symptoms of. Always consult, always do research on everything, expecially something a doctor tries to diagnosis you with, you always have the right to question doctors. Of course, I cant blame the whole university for the situation. The campus itself has potential, the university has the facilies, it has an intresting nearby town you can travel by tran, but most University do. Ethically though, I really wouldn’t recommend attending Stony Brook University, maybe it’s just the way they treat undergraduate students, or maybe it’s just how they treat a commuters, or a transfer student. Overally, I was a student. My life was at risk. My future was at risk. All at the same time wasted my time, and my money.
I would not recommend this college to anyone. I wasted 4 years in this college taking and retaking courses only to find out that all the science courses I took did not even count when I applied to other nursing schools. Stony Brook does not require labs to be taken with the science courses if you are going into nursing. When reviewing applications they screw their own students and accept students who have higher grades because they went to easier schools. Then when you try to transfer because you don’t have the labs all the science courses you take do not count and you have to retake them elsewhere, or go back and take the labs at Stony Brook. When they don’t accept you they do not give you a reason either, just that there were so many applicants. Please people take my warning and DO NOT COME TO THIS SCHOOL!
Sucks. It hurts me to know that I’ve already spent half my college experience here when I could have went to a large out of state school. Still, at least I’m not in such horrible debt.
