One Student Review of SUNY New Paltz

  • This looks like a picturesque campus. However, if you are planning on living there beware. Drug levels are the highest I have ever seen and I have been to 3 colleges and got my degrees at the other colleges. The administration staff are unprofessional. As a matter of fact I recently, (after years of not going to college there) had to call for health records and was argued with and told I was at fault for them not being able to have my records even though, I just wanted to know if they had records for me as I was attempting to get another degree elsewhere. The safety levels if you are living on campus is horrible. It’s a mix between NYC ghetto or die hard hippies. I would not recommend it for people who need to live on campus. Living there was like living at party school central except for when after the first week people started passing out from alcohol/drug poisoning like flies. On the plus side however, if you are able to commute, the professors are top notch and they do offer competitive degree programs and have had many famous people attend their school. If you are willing to commute and don’t care about the drugs, partying to extreme issues and safety issues you will love this school. I can tell you this is a school that either challenges most serious students or if they live on campus sends them back home to their parents looking for other schools. After 3 schools where I have achieved degrees I have yet to experience this sort of horror at any of the other schools I have attended. All schools have drugs and partying but this school is extreme.
