Weatherford College Bridgeport Campus is run by incompetent administrators with at least one reading teacher who expressed an attitude of a racist. After moving from Central America and had completed two years at a university, I am used to working with a university that respects their students, is professional in their attitudes, interacts positively with students, and presents information in a professional matter. After registering at Weatherford College and following review of my transcript in Bridgeport, I had to take a reading exam before being allowed to take the cosmology program. Following the results of the exam, they let me skip the first level and asked me to take level two reading (language issue).
With my letter and registration in hand, I showed up to class the last week of August. To my surprise, the teacher said, “Oh, I’m sorry, the class doesn’t start until October”. I showed her the registration, and she simply said, the paper was wrong. No, “i’m sorry”, just leave. Why didn’t they send a notice to me? Then, I showed up at the class in October and found a teacher who mumbled and spoke in a rapid incoherent speech pattern who was unwilling to respond positively to questions, did not offer to help to my issues, was snide, and said, “you need to go take basic english reading before you try to attend a university level class”, and reflected a racist attitude. Really, I probably has as much university training as this biggot. She never offered to repeat a single statement she made in class. Never offered to send me anywhere for assistance. She obviously didn’t want me in this class. Naturally, I was the only latin. The only other black woman in the class avoided much discussion with her too.
Following four weeks of this, I called the school to withdraw and try to get a different teacher. The administrator said, OK, she would handle it. Not having any trust in how incompetent this school is, I followed this up with a letter two weeks later. BIG surprise, they responded and said I should have withdrawn with a letter a week before!!! You get a F, instead of a Withdrawal. Morons.
Any latin or black person who is considering attending Bridgeport Weatherford College needs to take a hard look at this and consider going elsewhere. Frankly, there should be a federal investigation of this school. This only scratches the surface.
