University Saints,,Cyril and Methodius” was founded in 1949. This University developes study programmes in many fields: medicine,mathematics, biotechnical,social,arts,sports…In additon,the University offers postgraduate and master’s studies.
I finished my studies at the public university Saints Cyril and Methodius in Skopje, at the law department two years ago. I would describe in details the conditions there while I was studying.
On one hand, the professors and their assistants and all the staff there were very kind and helpful. They helped us in facing with the obstacles we were meant to deal with during the studies. They were often giving us advice no matter if they were related to our private or professional lives.Their teaching was very funny and interesting.
The campus generally was well-organized with small and big classrooms, three big amphitheatres and court where we had the chance to improvise trials, or simply said all the facilities needed. We had an enormous library, where we could find a great variety of books. There were a canteen disposing with every type of dish, sweet, salty, spicy food and different types of drinks etc. Between the brakes, we had the chance to get rid of the negative energy and do some sports such as basketball, box, aikido, aerobic etc. The sport halls were not so big, but they were very useful.
We had an obligatory practical education thirty days per year, so we were often visiting trials in the real, non-improvised courts where we had the opportunity to become aware of the reality happening out of our university. The classes were organized in small groups and in that way the professors were paying more attention to us as individuals not as a group. They were noticing our potentials and they were giving us directions, instructions and advice for the future waiting for us outdoors.
As I am narrating and describing, it seems all perfect to you. However, on the other hand are the disadvantages but they are minor in comparison to the advantages mentioned before. The disadvantages do not refer to the university at all, but to our country because we are coping with a really difficult problem. There are so many graduates from the law department that are unemployed, although they are completely eligible for many different kinds of job positions. The other disadvantage is that graduates from the law department are obliged to stay in our country, because they haven’t opportunities and possibilities to work abroad. The reason is that every single country has its own laws, bylaws, rules with which it functions differently from our country.
To sum up, it must be said that the advantages overweigh the advantages in many ways. I am really pleased and glad of my choice, because my colleagues and I were enjoying our studies, so I give you a warm recommendation about our university!
