One student review of University of Rhode Island

  • Alexander Harris says:

I scheduled an appointment with admissions to inquire about transferring to their Electrical Engineering program. During the meeting, I asked if the university could accommodate students who work full time. The admissions advisor candidly stated that the school is not the right fit for working-class people. The explanation was that the engineering classes build on one another, so if a student isn’t able to attend the class following the previous, they might be doing themselves a disservice by falling behind.

As an engineering technician by trade, I understand the importance of practical experience in engineering. I was hopeful the program would align with my background and allow for work-study balance, but the admissions stance was discouraging for working professionals like me. Prospective students who work full time should consider this when evaluating their options.
