Think for yourself
stay away from concordia!
or else ull be loosa!
i went to concordia, banged some chicks, now i work at a bar.
i got an economics degree with a minor in poli sci.
This is what this so called university is all about. Avoid it like the plague. Go to any university west of the quebec border or the maritimes or Mcgill or Bishops but AVOID CONCORDIA UNIVERSITY LIKE THE PLAGUE. Politics trumps competence there.
The school is trying to develop its reputation, so it stopped caring about undergraduates. Professors want to do research only, and see their teaching as a giant chore. Many have no idea what they’re teaching, and just read the powerpoints from textbook publishers.
They also treat their students like imbeciles. Everytime you submit anything, without any exception, you must sign and staple a 2 page contract declaring you didn’t cheat. I use about 40 of these per semester…
Professors will tell you they’ll meet with you, then ignore your emails in the interest of doing their research.
Most professors have been teaching for too long, and are well past their prime. TAs, as someone said, are largely incompetent, unable to speak english, and don’t make any effort to do their job.
School spirit is nonexistant, and there are simply no girls in Engineering. I so wish I went somewhere else…
I’ve been here for a year, and had more then my fill…
Concordia has some amazing professors, but the student body is so depressing that you’ll want to take a cheesegrater to the face by the end of your first week.
This school is very disorganized! Often, Ta’s aren’t even familiar with the material they are supposed to be instructing. Many of the professor have thick accents (indian, or arabic) and it is very difficult to understand them.
This school is hard, grades are not curved, and professors don’t care if that means that one fourth of their class will fail and have to repeat the course.
Student to teacher ratio is fairly good, but it doesn’t mean you are getting a good education. The students at this school are bad. In my engr 313 class, almost everyone was talking during the lecture, and some people were watching a movie on their laptop. This is very frustrating and distracting.
Don’t get me started on the “calculator rule.” The school mandates that you can only have 1 of 2 crappy calculators and you must get them approve (by going to an office and getting a sticker). This is really ridiculous. I rules on calculator for classes should be up to the individual professor.
I wish I had someone tell me how bad this school was before I choose to go to here. Already 2 of my friend have transfered out of the school after 1 year because of how bad it is. At this other schools I’ve been to, I haven’t met as much people that wanted to leave.
Don’t get me wrong, I don’t want to over generalize. I hear that this school IS good for Business and fine arts. I can’t verify that, but I can say that for engineering, you best find another school.
And for the guys out there, this school I would give a very low “hotness factor” for people in engineering.
