This school really screwed me and other students, there was a lot of false promises. When i went to apply to the school i was in the admissions department promised a lot of stuff, meaning good education, good equipment, etc. I was really worried about loans i didn’t want to get into debt so i didnt know what to do and i was really new to going to a tech school or college. But the person at admissions insisted that this was a really good school, the graduates get great jobs with good pay and insisted that i would have a job wit good pay to pay the loans off. I went for the IT program, let me tell you it was a waste of time, i regret going to this school so much. The teachers didnt teach good at all, Everyone was struggling in my class and the teachers just passed everyone. My ex classmates and complained everyday saying we arent learning what we are suppose to, the teacher’s arent teaching good, the equipment we used meaning the computers were totally outdated and some didnt even work. My ex classmates and i went to the deans everyday complaining nothing was done about it and we were told to go for tutoring. Why go for tutoring if im suppose to be learning in class? I was told that i can take the classes over for free, NO! i dont even want to do computers anymore this school made me lose interest. Also what im going to get the same teachers that couldnt teach the class again? Now i am stuck with 20k loans and probably more now because of the interest rate. I really wish i didnt go to this school it was the biggest mistake of my life!
My father said to me that I need to choose to either become a simple person or a successful leader. It made me see life in a different way. I learned that the more you stress the more you want to become better, the more you want to fight for your dreams the more you are a step ahead to becoming successful.
In past year at Dover Business College I learned that We are made to be followers or leaders. If you’re a follower, be sure you do an outstanding work, to understand as much as possible… If you are a leader, make sure the follower becomes a leader…. There are always reasons to be better, our families, friends and our love ones, you name it. You make your own decisions to make it better and only if you make this happen, then “you will keep moving forward”
The techniques that I learned at Dover Business College made me realized that in the past year I learned that becoming a leader is not always being or knowing everything … its about asking for help, that the reason to be positive is asking for help. Therefore … Being smart doesn’t have to be knowing everything but just starting by asking … For help
Dover Business college some of the job placement professionals were awful.
This one guy,i could not remember his name. I was finding leeds for jobs.
While this guy was using my job hunting leeds to find himself a job.He got
fired eventually. Finally a new guy helped me luckly the person who was in charge of hiring knew a Rn supervisor where i worked before.I was recommend
by her to the head of the center. The RN and her were college roomates.ThanK God.I have good benefits and my pay. There were a lot of people at the graduation that did not have jobs.
I loved most of my instructors and enjoyed most of the courses but the administration needs more experienced staff. And they need more connections when it comes to job placement. Sterile Processing Tech DOES NOT have 100% job placement, that is a lie. I know students from my graduating class that are still waiting to be placed.
In my opinion, invest in a 4 year university education and make sure you do your internships so you don’t end up like most students; jobless and unhappy. I am lucky I met somebody with 7 years of experience at my job who recommended me to a good hospital.
The instructor we had spent most of the class day pining away about some stripper that he thought was his “girlfriend” and would cry on the shoulders of the two girls that I shared the class with. The training was absolutely terrible and the technology even at that time was obsolete and of late 1960’s vintage.
The lifetime job placement was even worse and if I remember correctly the 1st job placement officer was let go because she was spending all of her time searching for a better gig for herself.
After I graduated with a 3.8 GPA, they found me an IT job working in a warehouse for $10.00 an hour that wasn’t even IT but I was able to use it as a launch point to get to where I am, an IT Manager whos is also a professional in my field.
As for the two girls, one wound up a housekeeper, and the other working in a mall somewhere. The instructor was later let go due to his personal issues.
I even remember a year or two after graduating calling the school to use the lifetime job placement services and was told since the course was no longer offered, they no longer can help you find any placement.
Although I used this 20K experience (mostly paid for by the GI Bill) as a stepping stone and later went back to Community College and obtained a degree, I now think that all of these so-called “tech schools” are pretty much nothing but legal scams preying on the naive and the desperate who are looking for hope and a better life for themselves but since they lack the knowlege or the support network to get there, they seek a short cut. If you want to learn something, go to Community College, in the end, you’ll fare much better.
