if you are considering doing the MLT program at cambrian i would recommend you go elsewhere if you can!!!! the reviews are very much true. the program coordinator bradley hann is the only thing going for this program. the others are rude, condescending, and openly want students to fail. the exam/assignment questions have not be taught in some cases. i am ashamed i spent my money at this college. it will be a good day when its over. do not pick this school over another option.

I got offer for Dmlt in Cambrian. But after reading, i feel like not attending this school. Any current student, can you please suggest. Is the condition still negative at cambrian?
I’ve seen a lot of negative comments about Cambrian, and everyone definitely has their own experiences, but some are just plain inaccurate. I’ve personally had a great experience at this institution. I’ve been at Cambrian for 3 years now — I finished my high school at 19 there due to health issues, and am now in the Pre-Health course that will allow me to transfer to Guelph for the Marine Bio course — and it’s been an absolutely positive experience. The professors are professional, and yet the majority are still approachable and enjoy making your learning at least a little bit fun during all the stress. The grounds are clean, and well-kept; there are constantly events happening, and many perks as a student (free breakfast, for example). I’ve personally never had an issue with the administrative faculty, nor an issue discussing grades with a prof. The social scene at the school is great, and the overall atmosphere is very relaxed, which I appreciate considering the stress of classes and exams. Also, the ultrasound course IS extremely difficult, it’s difficult anywhere. The benchmark for getting into the course is 93 this year, not 70; taking the Pre-Health course does help but of course expect the classes to be hard, as anything in the health care sector is going to be hell. Obviously this isn’t a perfect world, and might have profs who you don’t get along with or dislike their teaching style, but that’s the truth for any college/institution, but that shouldn’t stop you from applying.
I don’t understand why there are so many people whining about why ultrasound is so hard etc… its suppose to be hard lol anything in the health care is freaking hard. I spoke with some Xray, ultrasound students and they had no major problems.. if you failed in the program, don’t you think the problem might be you not the profs? I am taking first year Ultrasound and reading these comments makes me laugh. The college sure has problems and some profs are new and not experienced but that doesn’t mean you get to talk s**t just cuz you failed loll go to a university where there are 500 students in a class and see how you will do lol my guess is, you will fail and complain again how the profs are bad.
Currently in first year Business Administration. All but one of my teachers use either McGraw or Pearson textbooks to teach with (this is probably chosen by the college). These textbooks provide the teachers with premade slides, the assignments are done and marked online by the Pearson or McGraw programs while most tests are marked through gradecam.
This literally means my teachers don’t have a curriculum, don’t mark the tests and are just ad libbing pre written slides. hat the f**k am I paying for?
Currently in first year Medical Laboratory Technology (MLTY) program. Since day 1 the program has been disorganized, the labs are barely getting by with what we need, the teachers are “holier than thou” and treat you with little respect or dignity. Professors will gossip about you behind your back if they don’t like you and get you into trouble despite being a top student (4.0 GPA) and respectful to everyone there. Prepare to fight the administration, prepare to fight the faculty, prepare for shitty, disorganized labs, prepare for unclear testing, all in all, prepare for a shitty experience. If you’ve been accepted into MLT somewhere else, I beg you, don’t bother with Cambrian. Stay away as FAR AS YOU CAN!
I have been at Cambrian College for two years now for the RPN program and it has been a joke since day one. The so called “professors” at this lack of professionalism, organization and accessibility. The profs have no formal teaching experience, which results in most profs not knowing how to teach. I have encountered several problems when it comes to getting registered for class as well as paying for my tuition but not actually being registered for any classes. Parking has also been a major issue. At Cambrian you have the option of paying for “Gold Parking” which allows you to park closer to the school and of course pay a higher premium that the burgundy parking which restricts students to lots that are further from the entrances; however I have encountered several occasions where multiple burgundy passes were parked in the gold lots. I brought this issue up to security and the dean and this was never dealt with. They have no secure system to ensure that the different passes park in their designated lots. Trying to access your classes and your MyCambrian is also a big issue. The site is constantly down for maintenance, it is rare that I can access the site with out any issues. The has been by far my worst post secondary experience and I do not recommend this school to any one. This school is essentially a high school only you pay 5000$ a year to be there. If you are looking for a school where you cannot be independent, encounter continuous problems with profs and administration staff, to be disrespected and belittled then Cambrian College is the school for you.
Don’t take English online course with Jessica O’Reilly or the SCI1000 with Kayla Spencer. Horrible experience. Just saying, my marks don’t reflect my work at all. Never get back to you, and the course outlines suck
They take your money asap. Encourage online classes. Hardly any teachers get back to you until the end of the course. Half the time moodle is off or doesn’t register your marks. Try and appeal a course, it’s like pulling eye teeth. One hoop after another. Pass you off to someone else. Frustrating and lack of transparency and rights and responsibilities to students.

I graduated from two courses. Literally had anxiety everytime moodle shutdown. Teachers recorded 0 and I was not able to do the test again. Teacher would say assignments and tests were not done. IT problems, don’t care. Teachers are not even qualified teachers. They are said to be professionals in their fields. They ask you to fill out a questionnaire, and you tell them how terrible their teaching is. I foresee a huge number of lawsuit in there future. Save yourself the headaches and frustration.
I dropped out of this Cambrian College Med Lab program, to be frank it sucks that’s all I can say. PROFS wants most of the students to fail. Good luck to any one wants to apply to this program here in future. :/
Please reconsider applying for MLT program at Cambrian, it’s a joke this school. Teaching sucks, labs are over crowded, learning unwanted GNEDS, placement sites are hell, past few years students sucks at CSMLS national test because of poor course content and inadequate teaching, passing grades for each course is 70 now, even when it at 60, two third of them failed or dropped out because of bad teaching. CSMLS should review teaching quality of staff and performance of students before it accreditation this program again. I wasted my whole 3 years in this school. Now working in retail, I should have waited and gone to other schools. :'(
Please don’t apply for MLT Med Lab program, professors are mostly Lab tech who doesn’t know to teach anything. They are highly disorganised, labs were crappy and unfit. Past few years MLT grads from Cambrian were failing at CSMLS national exam, so Professors instead of changing their teaching skills increased the passing grade to 70% almost everyone in our class failing, many are dropping out. Professors are highly biased, and rude most of the time. Most of the courses are not even taught properly left with to figure it by ourselves, clinical sites available sucks too. better bet to go to Michener or St.Clair college. Don’t waste your time, and money.

For those of you looking to go into the Electrical program at Cambrian don’t do it. The teachers are terrible in the first two years. They are mostly from the electrical union and are not fit to be teachers. The good teachers from the past have retired or moved on, this program isn’t what it used to be. Go to a school with a co-op option because unless you have strong connections you’re not finding an apprenticeship. Good luck finding work in Sudbury if you do decide to do the program there are 0 jobs waiting for you.
Horrible School !! Graduated from a trades program in 2006. Completely usesless stuff to the real world applicatioins. The millwright program is a complete write-off with many graduates of the program now pumping gas, driving a forklift or in retail. All well the teachers preech of all the money to be made and the demand for the jobs. Its all garbage, thats why they are teaching or as one professor did designed a teaching computer application to know how to read micrometers and calipers. Best advice avoid the trade programs and get sponsered by an employer first or already have a guarenteed job offer on papar. Don’t waste your time otherwise especially if you find work outside of the province all your education outside of having your red seal. You have to redo the testing for your levels to be recognized in each province as each province delivers the steps of an apprenticeship differently. Avoid all non governement regulated trades dont even bother going to school just find an employer to take you on millwright and machinist for are not governemtn regulated meaning joe blow off the street can walk in off the street and becausd he knows somestuff he is hired unlike an electrician or an auto mechanic which held to regulations and regulated, stick to these trades. If you do go that path……I never did and much happier to have never associated myself with this college. Go to a real school and see the difference in everything.
DO NOT take the Ultrasound course at this school! It’s a course set up for failure. Taking the Pre-Health course increases your chances of getting accepted into Ultrasound but doesn’t prepare you for the actual work.
To be frank, the toughest course in this program is Pathology. The subject is very subjective and abstract. I studied for hours for this course with que cards, in groups, and a tutor but still couldn’t pull a pass (70%). Everyone in my year (2014) had a tough time with it. Seems suspicious when every other subject on your report card is at an A and one course is at an F.
In 2014 we started with 35 students. By the end of first semester where we’re 10 left. By second semester 5.
This program needs to be re-evaluated along with the staff. I suggest going to an actual university/another college. 3 years of hard work into a diploma is NOT worth the amount of effort you will put in this course. It deserves to be a Bachelors. The professors are nice but they are Sonographers before they are teachers. That makes a huge difference. Also, there are only student tutors not actual technicians.
The school itself is filthy rich. Free breakfast in the cafe, events with free food/giveaways on a daily basis, karaoke nights, live events. The social life is great. Library is kinda small.
Avoid this school at all costs. If you are paying for your education, you are much better to go to a school that can actually provide you with an experience for your money’s worth. I’m honestly embarrassed to say I went to such a joke of a school.
I would not recommend this school at all, and I’m not going to be returning in the future. The teachers in my program are very good for the most part (with the exception of one). The problem is the school itself is VERY disorganized, leaving many of my teachers wanting to do good, but can not because their administration is not prepared for anything at all, and simply does not care that paying students are feeling the consequences. Also, the simulation labs in my (health sciences) program are not prepared at all (students even have to purchase their own equipment and PPE after paying thousands in tuition), since they have a lack of space, expired and outdated supplies, and are even lacking the basic supplies to do anything on the manikins that hasn’t been purchased separately by the student. The online mycambrian and moodle websites are also quite confusing to use, and have a lot of room for improvement.
I took the Ultrasound program at the Cambrian College. Many talented students join the program, however most do not make it past 1st or 2nd semester. Isn’t it strange that considering the quality of applicants, the program has a high dropout rate? In fact, the ultrasound program is the most competitive program in the whole college and it accepts the best of the best (academically speaking). So why is there a high dropout rate?
The program is very unorganized. It almost feels like professors don’t care about student’s agenda and let students figure out everything by themselves. There have been times when we did not even know where our test took place until the morning of the test. Had we not checked with our peers, we would have gone to the wrong room! I refrain to mention a certain professor’s name but her tests were nightmare to prepare for. Her test questions were ambiguous and the weighing of test questions were absurd. We were tested on materials that were explained differently by different evaluators or materials that were not clearly taught. Let the statistic speaks for itself, only 15 students made it past the first semester this year.
It is a challenging program but it is challenging for the wrong reasons. If the material is challenging, it should inspire students (ultrasound is very fascinating!) to do better but this is not the case. Many students are left feeling frustrated by the way program is operated and some students voluntarily refused to return after passing first semester.
You are better off getting your education at another college. I would not be surprised if this program loses its accreditation, it is low quality compared to other schools that offer the same program.
I took the ultrasound program at cambrian college, I would not recommend it to people who are unsure about this program as you have to be 100% dedicated to the program in order to succeed as it is very challenging. The program coordinator is nice but sometimes uninvolved. The teachers are challenging but honestly fabulous people, you don’t really get to know them until 2nd semester as the first semester is kinda dedicated to getting rid of anyone who doesn’t belong in the program (sounds harsh but there just aren’t enough placements for everyone) but I found them to be very supportive. The pass rate is low, usually over half the class will not make it to clinical. The school does provide wonderful equipment including 6 new machines and a sim dummy. I am very glad I took this program.
I also took prehealth at cambrian in order to get the 4.0 needed to be accepted to ultrasound. It was a good review of highschool, but I had a 4.0 in highschool so I did not find it challenging. Also the testing methods, course load and learning style used in prehealth is very different from that of the ultrasound program so I do not feel like it prepared me for the program at all. So for me prehealth was solely a grade booster. Prehealth is good for people who want to slowly introduce themselves to college before taking a difficult program, as you can still have a social life and still maintain good grades.
Now about the school it’s self, I do not like cambrian at all. I had both good and horrible experiences with administration, they made a huge mistake with my registration and when to went to register it said I was not even listed as an active student. The library is completely useless, most of the time there are not enough computers, and there are never enough tables. Overall a very unorganized school.
If you want the people who work at the college you attend to be organized do not attend cambrian college. I have been through hell and back because of petty mistakes, i.t errors and people who don’t know how to help me or give me the name of someone who can help me.
This is very disappointing because the quality of education has been over all really good.
1. So disorganize, class rooms change for weeks straight. half of the teachers are okay but most are there for money which is sad.
2. They are forcing you to use everything online which is fine but don’t you think you should make it bug free and working? it will crashes on you all the time!!!
3.they admin staff is terrible, If you need something expect them to forget about you or take about 10 business days to reply back. And no, the job doesn’t matter, it can be a simple task that might take them 3 minutes to do but its still going to take 10 days.
4. Like every school, parking!!! OMG parking is a joke. its like I’m paying for a downtown parking spot for Toronto… I know scary!! but hey, we are students and we love to be in thirty thousand debt when we are out of school for a college course for three years.
5. The Library is terrible, its always over crowed and never any room in there. you think after the same Library since we open it might be time for a upgrade for a bigger one? hint hint
what a joke profs are there for the money not for the well being of there students, is a joke, dirty and never clean, the profs marks are purely based on how much he likes you on the up side its cheap and the teacher to student ratio is good
Please please please reconsider taking the ultrasound program at cambrian college. If you are thinking about it you are better off to apply else where. The teachers don’t care on the success of their students and pick and chooses who makes it. It’s all about the money for them, they accept only 30 students in the program with only 20 available placement, which means they have every intension that at least 10 students will not make it. That doesn’t say much about the teachers the college nor the program. Please spend your money at another college where you will get the proper training you need to be successful.

I am now a current student at mohawk college and I am really getting the support i need from the professors. Not once have i felt nervous going to ask a teacher a question. Not once has a teacher made me feel like an idiot in front of the whole class
youre gonna be left figuring everything out yourself. The #1 thing you’re going to hear the teachers say to you when you ask them a question is
“it’s up to the student to figure it out” (but they tell you to ask questions at the beginning of the year)

its like theyre so oblivious they forgot that we’re paying money to LEARN from someone who is supposedly the best of the best….bs
They try there hardest to get through the lesson and get out. You’re never going to get the support you want from teachers at cambrian because they don’t want to be there themselves.
this school is a money scam. from what i’ve heard, the cambrian rez which hold a couple hundred students only has ONE vacuum for the whole building…. and each student pays around 4 grand a semester to live in this building…. hmm?
the teachers photocopy textbooks and re sell them back to the students? let me know if that makes sense….
I always get the feeling from these teachers that they do not want to see you graduate. they want to see you fail and drop out, or fail and pay again.
the electrical teachers at cambrian college are a joke. they try so hard to come across as a professor that knows everything about the trade but….. they have bin teaching the same thing, the same way, giving the exact same handouts, year after year, not changing a single thing
I would never recommend this collage to anyone. The ministry of education really needs to come in and check on the so called “instructors” cambrian is pulling out of their A**. Not once did I feel like any of the teachers were there to help..
I’ve been nothing but lied to since I started coming to cambrian…since the beginning i knew this school was out to get your money. The things they make you pay for is outrageous, and the prices for the things is just nonsense.

So I was very dissapointed with the reviews I read on Cambrian College from this page. I do not think it is a good representation of the college or its programs. I can’t speak for every program but I am a current student in the ultrasound program, and find the teachers very helpfull! Of course there are a few bumps in the road, but what school doesn’t? As long as you work hard and respect the teachers and fellow students you wont have any problems, and they will be willing to help you. Plus you get a great career in the end! I would recommend Cambrian College any day!
Watch your “drop date deadlines”. They like to take money right out from under your feet. They tend to change the dates often without notice, and make it extremely difficult to get onto your outline courses so you don’t even have a chance to review the course before the deadline. Many people I know have had this problem.
I would not recommend this college to anyone. Its constant battles and the level of education is not there. They care to much about the money and nothing else. Many class action suits against them and the trades programs are not recognized buy any government program. Just a cash grab. Ny auto service tech program was a total waste of time

Worst college you can ever see! Especially their health science program. The “teachers”- most of them are not qualified to be teachers cause they don’t have the knowledge and experience. The program dean is very bad—he does not help students at all. All they care about is their money!
By the way the college has no president for several years. So nobody can really help students when there are issues.

auto service tech program at this school was the worse program ever, not worth anything, teachers liked to pretend that they where kings of the school, no one other then john wiess seemed to care about the students. this with several other programs offered at this school are not worth anything…… avoid at all costs .. waste of money and time.
I am a student in the Hotel Restaurant Management Program at Cambrian College. I absolutely do NOT recommend coming to this college. The administration staff are extremely unorganized, the atmosphere is dark and gloomy, and the staff are extremely unprofessional.
We had to take a Math Tutorial class as part of our Math Class, the person teaching it was a Chemistry Professor with no math experience. Our Chef professor for our cooking class was extremely unhelpful and unclean, instructed to use side towel to change oven rack in a 500 degree oven, almost burned myself many times.
We had to take 2 Accounting classes, and they were extremely irrelevant to our program, with most of us currently failing. In fact we had only 2 classes during the 2 years that were hotel related. When we had our co-op placement we were instructed to find a business on our own with little help.
After 2 Years I have no preparation to work in the Hotel Industry, many of us in the program have spoken to General Managers at hotels during our co-op placement who have said that many of our courses particularly accounting are irrelevant to the industry.
Do not go to Cambrian College if you do not want to be severely disappointed!!!
I took the Medical Radiation Technology Program at Cambrian and am now a successful X-ray Tech. However I am very far from being happy with this career and the program . I would suggest NOT going into health care, however if you are dead set on the X-ray thing, atleast do the x-ray programs down south at Michener Institute or Mohawk where you will actually get a degree for all of your hard work rather than just a diploma. The cambrian program is far too much work to not even get a degree in the end. Do your-self a favour and just go to university and get an actual degree. I very much regret not going to university insead. Its more expensive but atleast you wont waste 3-4 years of your life (I had to take one-year pre-health at cambrian in order to get accepted into Med Rad). The clinical placement isnt even paid. You work for a whole year as a full time x-ray tech for free. Also with this profession you have to pay $1000 every year in dues for nothing, you dont even get any services. You are forced to waste your time, money and energy on additional courses that are cometeply irrelevent to the career. The teachers are unproffesional.
If you are planning on going into Practical nursing i would think twice about going to Cambrian college. this was the worst school i have ever attended! the teachers for this program are the worst! there not there to help you just to watch you fall! they call you stupid and everything which seems wrong but when you go to the dean of health sciences he thinks your making it up which is pretty dumb. Hello Guyys………..I am planning to study ENERGY SYSTEMS TECHNOLOGY (ESTY) in Cambrian College so please give me your suggestion.
Do not attend this school for the MRI program. They are unprofessional, without resources and with little ambition to teach. If you rely heavily up on instructors to teach you the correct and legal way to do your job DO YOURSELF A FAVOUR AND GO SOMEWHERE ELSE. I have never had a learning atmosphere with such little desire for excellence. They train you to memorize specific parts of a text rather than grasp what the course is really about. If taking the post grad MRI program you know you’ll have to pass the CAMRT exams in order to work. 100% of graduates of this program fail their CAMRT exam the first try. Don’t waste your money, take it online, you’ll have to teach yourself anyway.
Can’t really say that I gained anything by going to Cambrian College. I did a three year course there with a packed class and barely working labs. I was told to ‘figure it out’ myself whenever I asked questions, cause the professor was there to ‘hold my hand’ but he most certainly had time to flirt. By the time I graduated, I had no clue what I how to go about a job in my field or how to do the job that I had studied for.
Luck landed me the job of my dreams and a generous mentor who saw potential and the willingness to learn my craft.
Go somewhere else.
Cambrian college is not good for study, because they are not well in study, and professor is also not taking care of international student. they are not properly advise to international student. 8-10 student already left the college in 1 semester. money is important for college, they are not concern about student’s future.

Cambrian college is not good for study,,so every person take care,,cambrian college study streategy is so third class,,so take care to come for cambrian college..cambrian college give wrong commitement,,so every internation student go to anywhere in canada but not go to cambrian college…. you can ask to any student of cambrian …this is free advice ,,,after your choice…i have experience about all the situation of cambrian college…never ever come in this college…
