Frequent trips to court to view real cases and experience the judicial system first hand.
I agree with Mike (4-19-2016) “you get what you put in” – the students who don’t attend classes and don’t participate are the ones who suffer.
Great School
Great Staff / Instructors
Great Location
I already had a small background in design. But in 2009, being young and unemployed without a ton of work experience to compete with, I wanted to increase my skill set while I was out of work.
They basically just introduce you to the programs and its up to you to get a greater understanding with concepts of design. Its kind if equal to an in person youtube video. However, all of my graduating class did find work within a few months of graduating. But I think that had more to do with all of us being determined to excel, not so much with us having a herzing education. We were all older with a small class, so that worked in our favour.
As for the internship, I had the exact same experience when I went to Centennial. To me, it just seems normal that a student has to seek out an internship the same way they would a paid job. But I found one with a great company that ended up paying me a little as a freelancer.
It was all covered by my second career grant, so it didn’t cost me money. But I would have been upset had I paid $17,000 for it. If you have a choice between the two, I would always advise going to a community college or certificate program or a private college. But if a private college its your only viable option, I think it can be worth it depending on the field. Its not hard to prove you know a computer program, but probably harder to prove how capable you are as a paralegal or nurse. Try to talk to past students directly or ask employers if they ever hire grads from there.
Lacks conscience, continuous deceit to cover up wrongdoing, and ruthless conduct is not becoming of a officer.
…
Little did I know that it would be a HUGE waste of my time, and more importantly MY MONEY. 13,000 down the fucking drain. I am still currently going here because I only have a month or so left in the course and I might as well get a stupid diploma out of this bullshit “College”, if you can even call it that.
Very unprofessional when the teacher starts sharing overly personal stories about her sex life, children’s messed up lives, and random stupid stories. Even worse when she starts talking crap about some of the students like a 16 year old high school girl. Its sad. At first I thought the vulgar stories were amusing and funny, but once they started taking over lecture time, and they were constantly repeated day in and day out, it got old and VERY annoying. Everyday I get more and more depressed/stressed thinking about how I wasted my time and money when I should have just went to public college like humber or George brown, and how my future plans are slowly going away. I should have read this very site. Now im just nervous that they wont be able to find a placement for me afterwards for my internship. FML.
DO NOT GO TO HERZING. WASTE OF YOUR TIME AND MONEY, SERIOUSLY!
I don’t know why their website doesn’t state the cost of tuition. I attended Sheridan College, and University of Toronto. And never was I obligated to first attend the campus or any sort of “orientation” in order to find out about the financial aspects. The financial costs were always displayed up front – take it or leave it kind of deal.
This was a MAJOR drawback for me at Herzing. It sounds like a very fishy gimmick to be honest. I udnerstand they use friendly selling tactics to get you on board. But when they first pounce on you when you display any sort of attention but then ultimately ignore your request to provide you with tuition cost, one has to wonder…
WE love you ODOG!!
The didn’t teach some of the softwares that were supposed to teach!!! like DreamWeaver.
The web Design Teacher (Don’t want to say his name) Was usually drunk in the morning when he started the class!
The Graphic Design Teacher is Polish racist who think that Europeans are THE GOD on the earth!!! If he likes you, he answer your question! He was a Jerk!
It was a terrible college,
Absolutely waste of money and time….
For the cons however, the people in admissions do use the ‘friendly sales’ tactic. They pretend to be your best buddy, and at times, apply a bit of pressure until you sign your enrollment contract and suddenly, they no longer speak to you. The school does lack on amenities and overall upkeep which makes it quite difficult for students to be able to study outside of class time on campus. I remember the computers in the miniature student lounge being ”out of order” for months.
I’ve noticed that many reviews have 1 main thing in common, and that is this school provides very little job finding assistance to students after graduating and I must say, that every single person who stated that is absolutely correct! No one in my graduating class got a decent internship placement with assistance from the school and no one in my class recalls receiving any dedicated assistance from the career services department in terms of finding employment.
Had a very positive experience as the instructors were all professional and had real world experience in their fields. Some may not have been the best presenters of the material, but the fact that they came from the real world and not academia more than made up for any lack of polish in presenting. I was recruited on campus and got my first job directly through the efforts of the People Bank.
I can’t tell you whether the school standards have dropped since my days or if this site
just contains posts from unsuccessful students. Every school will have negative posts from
students who failed, dropped out, or felt they were “entitled” to better marks.
My stepson attends a public college and he has many of the same complaints with that college as I have seen here. Some of his teachers don’t care. Some of his teachers don’t have a good command of the English language and he can’t understand what they are saying. Some of his instructors arrive unprepared to teach. There are bad apples in every academic institution.
You are better off exploring colleges like George Brown, Seneca, Humber or Ryerson University.
Avoid!
Interviewer: So, I see you studied at Herzing for 7 months?
You: (trying to spin it)Well yes blah, blah, blah.
Interviewer:What skill sets do you feel you would bring to our company?
You:Blah, blah, blah knowing you have the same but rather less than every other prospective graduate employee.
Interviewer:Thanks we’ll be in touch.
Doesn’t matter there how good a student you are.
I have been perusing colleges, in order to enter a paralegal program. I am very grateful for those students and former students, of Herzing College, to come forth and give an honest overall experience of the College. Thank you so much for making my decision a bit more easier. Herzing will not be an option for me.

The comments here are all mostly true. Some may be a bit over the top but all in all… agreed. Herzing College is rotten. The fact that they hire grads from their own programs should be a clue. What qualifies them to be teachers? They pay them the minimal wage. The students are desperate and wouldn’t stand much of a chance in a real university. In addition the diploma is a year or whatever, it wouldn’t help them in securing a career. I would think that they are only attending so they can secure the loan. One of the comments here about the teacher having a beer with a student simply shows the unprofessional attitude they take. After spending your loan you are still requires to pay for textbooks and graduation? What a joke! Like the warning at the top of this page stay well clear of this so called college.
The defamatory and unjustified criticisms of some of the instructors are shameful. Also, I think that many of the negative remarks undermine the dedication and hard work that so many wonderful students put into learning about the profession and obtaining a diploma. Good luck to those who did it. I’m personally aware of a number of graduate students from Herzing who are amongst some of the brightest and most talented people I could hope to meet. André
The site and I hope others like about the awful “College” that HERZING is have only negative comments cause this place SUCKS!! What part of sucks don’t you get???? I resent the comments you make “student that complain are normally poor students and would rather blame the college than themselves,” what is wrong with you??? Are you a FUCKIN MORON????
As a student who completed this program and others, at real colleges and universities, not to mention being awarded academic accomplishment/awards!!! The reason these put these negative comments cause they are correct and I believe everyone on them.
My experience at this place could fill a book. These f*****s, every single one of them, only care about how much money you got!!!
So f**k you and f**k herzing!!!!
if u guys woudn’t tell me then i woul’ve waist my time and my money bi=ut get no job after graduating
PLEASE, WHOEVER IS THINKING OF GOING TO THIS PLACE, DON’T DO IT!!!!!
Make sure to pursue the public colleges…..
boo-hoo.
meanwhile, for a college that is almost 50 years old (according to the internet), there are what? a dozen complaints? lol….google “George Brown sucks” or “Humber sucks” and see what you find.
you people are pathetic.
Adjective: Below or contrary to the standards expected in a particular profession.
Synonyms: amateurish
Every private college charges a $500 cancellation fee if a student withdraws which is approved by the Ministry of Training, Colleges & Universities. It is in the contract that you signed.
Herzing’s program is rushed and unorganized and sometimes taught by non licensed legal professionals, this is not allowed according to the Law Society whom I complained.
They also charged me a cancellation charge and now I am considering legal action. The Director George is a sleaze, do not trust him and Linda and Karen are just liars.
When I asked who the professors were so that I could google them and see their immigration consultant credentials, she told me they were still in the midst of hiring them, which is true, because I saw a JOB AD looking for instructors online just last week!!! PATHETIC! When I said I wasn’t interested in going to a place that has never run the course before and has no success rate to show yet, the admissions lady said “it doesn’t matter what school you go to to learn the information, it’s just passing the test that matters” and I’m like, no, it does matter who I learn from, because I will be dealing with PEOPLE’S LIVES and immigration when I graduate, and I want to make sure I know what I’m talking about and that I have learned from the best of the best.
Sadly, this is not the case. They need to spend more time on recruiting proper professors and learning about the courses they’re trying to “sell” to unsuspecting students, and less time recruiting students at TWICE THE PRICE of a regular, highly rated, college. These ppl are Con artists and care nothing about the students! I dont’ care that your crappy college has been around for more than 50 years… all you’d be doing for me is treating me to a $6,600.00 grave injustice!
And I believe what those other ppl are saying about the courses changing times 1/2 way between the year cuz the first guy who calle dme said the course runs 1-6pm, but when I told the 2nd woman who called that those times didn’t work for me, all of a sudden they’re offering the same course from 6-11pm. Seems totally sketchy and I would run for the hills from this place ASAP!!!
If they are at the same level of education at the other colleges, then why is it that most of the graduates half to go to Seneca, George Brown, Ryerson, etc.
after they graduate so that they can be at the satisfactory academic level for those hiring in the field????????
Best advice is to just go to one of the big name colleges instead of wasting time and MONEY on this so called “academic” school that no one knows or trust!
Main problem. People who would hire you do not like 1 year career colleges. Most know nothing about Herzing, and would perfer to hire a 2 year program graduate from somewhere like George Brown or Seneca.
Very low ratio of students from this program find jobs.
Don’t waste your money.
