  • I booked an appointment to meet Dino. First when I entered the college I felt like I enter to apartment, I did not feel comfortable at all. So Dino is a marketing guy who work in registration. I got him with me a transcript for AutoCAD courses in order to skip it from the Architecture program that I wish to study. However, I requested to see the professor suddenly he said for sure let’s go to see the professor.. He went through his class and entered up in the middle of the lecture.. I was like “oh WoOw” no respect at all.. and the professor came into us.. I was shook. I met a Stupid, unprofessional. i do not like this college at all, also it has high fees, the Architecture program is about 18$ which is more expansive than Doctoral degree. i am trying to get into community colleges too.

  • I thought I was losing my mind when I was reading the comments. I am currently enrolled in the Immigration Consultant program – 2018. I must say, there are so many downfalls about Herzing that I didn’t know prior to attending. The professor is unprofessional. She gossips with students about other students. The college imposed a mandatory “book loaner fee” which is in clear violation of the Private Career Colleges Act, 2005. The college does not respect the rights of students who have disability. The professor is always yelling at students. The environment at the college is so depressing that I have lost faith in attending campus. We need stricter laws in the Province of Ontario to deal with these PCC who are in business for the money.

My teacher Joanne Goodyear she is an amazing teacher, she has very powerful teaching style that everyone loves. Very conveniently located right in the Eaton Centre. I strongly recommend Herzing College.

  • Currently enrolled in Herzing’s Paralegal program. Excellent and knowledgeable teachers who are experts in law. They have a wealth of knowledge and explain each aspect to us in depth and in terms / examples we can relate to. The teachers give us plenty of opportunities to ask questions and prepare for quizzes / tests and ample time to complete assignments.
Frequent trips to court to view real cases and experience the judicial system first hand.
I agree with Mike (4-19-2016) “you get what you put in” – the students who don’t attend classes and don’t participate are the ones who suffer.

I spent 20 min in the front office until someone asked me if I’m being helped. They made a call to find out where the person was so he can tell me that “too bad” he is not here today. After seeing all these reviews, OMG, am I glad I did not see anyone there today. So UNPROFESSIONAL. Thanks to all that contributed to this site, good or bad, I had a little taste of it and I had enough.

  • Herzing College (Toronto campus) was the most terrible waste of time and funds I could imagine. The Police Foundations program which I took was someone reading me a studen’t presentation rather than real coursework or lessons, the staff were uninterested and unprofessional and the school isn’t accredited or recognized by respected institutions. It’s also poorly viewed by potential employers. A terrible experience in a very unprofessional, badly run, disappointing environment.

She always had an excuse as to why we couldn’t learn PCLaw seemed like she was more interested in teaching us how to make excuses. I learned more in 4 weeks in my job then what was taught to me at Herzing. Not impresssed would NEVER EVER recommend this school to anyone. The staff are unfriendly and not approachable by any means. I felt very unwelcomed there and looked at as another dollar in their pocket.

  • I had a mixed experience with Herzing. The Polish teacher is knowledgeable about the programs, but has absolutely no social skills. If someone makes a harmless joke or sarcasm, he can be very offended and snap at them.

I already had a small background in design. But in 2009, being young and unemployed without a ton of work experience to compete with, I wanted to increase my skill set while I was out of work.

They basically just introduce you to the programs and its up to you to get a greater understanding with concepts of design. Its kind if equal to an in person youtube video. However, all of my graduating class did find work within a few months of graduating. But I think that had more to do with all of us being determined to excel, not so much with us having a herzing education. We were all older with a small class, so that worked in our favour.

As for the internship, I had the exact same experience when I went to Centennial. To me, it just seems normal that a student has to seek out an internship the same way they would a paid job. But I found one with a great company that ended up paying me a little as a freelancer.

It was all covered by my second career grant, so it didn’t cost me money. But I would have been upset had I paid $17,000 for it. If you have a choice between the two, I would always advise going to a community college or certificate program or a private college. But if a private college its your only viable option, I think it can be worth it depending on the field. Its not hard to prove you know a computer program, but probably harder to prove how capable you are as a paralegal or nurse. Try to talk to past students directly or ask employers if they ever hire grads from there.

The teachers and administration are not dedicated to the advancement of the students but instead are concerned with doing their time (work) and getting out of there. Noone at the school is accountable for issues encountered by students. If you’re at all motivated and ambitious, don’t go here. You would get good grades and pass but you won’t be satisfied with the quality of the education.

  • I joined Herzing because of the amazing hours (9am-12pm and Fridays off), as well as my sister in law went here and enjoyed it, she took the medical administrator course, I decided to do the same besides a 2 year course squished into a year sounded amazing!

Little did I know that it would be a HUGE waste of my time, and more importantly MY MONEY. 13,000 down the fucking drain. I am still currently going here because I only have a month or so left in the course and I might as well get a stupid diploma out of this bullshit “College”, if you can even call it that.
Very unprofessional when the teacher starts sharing overly personal stories about her sex life, children’s messed up lives, and random stupid stories. Even worse when she starts talking crap about some of the students like a 16 year old high school girl. Its sad. At first I thought the vulgar stories were amusing and funny, but once they started taking over lecture time, and they were constantly repeated day in and day out, it got old and VERY annoying. Everyday I get more and more depressed/stressed thinking about how I wasted my time and money when I should have just went to public college like humber or George brown, and how my future plans are slowly going away. I should have read this very site. Now im just nervous that they wont be able to find a placement for me afterwards for my internship. FML.
DO NOT GO TO HERZING. WASTE OF YOUR TIME AND MONEY, SERIOUSLY!

  • Well a little about that Polish Graphic Design instructor. Yes he is rude, previously he worked at the International Academy of Design back in 2006 when I took 3d animation course. He was supposed to teach you how to use a computer like insert disk, what is the difference between RAM and Hard Drive etc… The guy is not supposed to be a teacher and I strongly believe that he may know the softwares but no knowledge of design. I saw him at Herzing when I went to check out their graphic design coure few years ago as the lady was giving me a tour and as soon as I saw him in the classroom. Right away I changed my mind and never went back. Here is why. The school I went to was same as this one here. They promise a lot in a short term but their classes hold no substance. I did learn a bit however, not from the teachers but from other classmates that knew better than me. I came out knowing more but the school was a joke. Herzing is also a joke. If you want some education in graphic design and web design and you don’t have the money or time to go to a real college, you will love linda.com or digitaltutors. They are not a real school but if you are diciplined you can find a lot of gems there. As for Herzing and many others in the city. The government should take a closer look and start regualting them.

  • I did not attend this school. I wanted to try the Paralegal program, so I clicked on the “inquire about this program” button on their website. This was about 5 days ago. Since then, I recieved about 6 phone calls from the admin department, each from different admin people. I never picked up, letting it go to voicemail purposely. They left me voice messages with a very excited and enthusiastic attittude. I emailed back one of them, asking about tuition costs, letting her know that this was the most important factor for me. She emailed me back, stating that she couldn’t tell me the cost until I came and took a tour of the campus during the day time. I emailed her back and stated that I have a full time job, and in order for me to come out to the campus for “tour” I will have to take a whole day off work. I formulated my email in a way that demonstrated to her that I cannot come out for this “tour” without knowing the approximate tuition costs. Because if I find out post factum that it is more than what I can currently afford, I would have already wasted both of our time and lost a whole day at work. She has not responded to me since that email.

I don’t know why their website doesn’t state the cost of tuition. I attended Sheridan College, and University of Toronto. And never was I obligated to first attend the campus or any sort of “orientation” in order to find out about the financial aspects. The financial costs were always displayed up front – take it or leave it kind of deal.

This was a MAJOR drawback for me at Herzing. It sounds like a very fishy gimmick to be honest. I udnerstand they use friendly selling tactics to get you on board. But when they first pounce on you when you display any sort of attention but then ultimately ignore your request to provide you with tuition cost, one has to wonder…

  • Even after reading all the ”poor” reviews, I decided to attend to this school anyway and figured I would write a review at the end of my studies based on my overall experience at this college. I took the police foundations program here. Overall, my professors were amazing. They were veterans in the field, very personable and caring to each individual student and hands-down, the quality in teachers here well surpasses a public college (I originally went to a public college for the same program and transferred some of credits over to this school). It is very difficult to ask questions and get proper clarification on material in a large public college classroom setting for me, personally.

For the cons however, the people in admissions do use the ‘friendly sales’ tactic. They pretend to be your best buddy, and at times, apply a bit of pressure until you sign your enrollment contract and suddenly, they no longer speak to you. The school does lack on amenities and overall upkeep which makes it quite difficult for students to be able to study outside of class time on campus. I remember the computers in the miniature student lounge being ”out of order” for months.

I’ve noticed that many reviews have 1 main thing in common, and that is this school provides very little job finding assistance to students after graduating and I must say, that every single person who stated that is absolutely correct! No one in my graduating class got a decent internship placement with assistance from the school and no one in my class recalls receiving any dedicated assistance from the career services department in terms of finding employment.

  • Graduated from Herzing College many years ago when the college was still located on Eglinton.
Had a very positive experience as the instructors were all professional and had real world experience in their fields. Some may not have been the best presenters of the material, but the fact that they came from the real world and not academia more than made up for any lack of polish in presenting. I was recruited on campus and got my first job directly through the efforts of the People Bank.

I can’t tell you whether the school standards have dropped since my days or if this site
just contains posts from unsuccessful students. Every school will have negative posts from
students who failed, dropped out, or felt they were “entitled” to better marks.

My stepson attends a public college and he has many of the same complaints with that college as I have seen here. Some of his teachers don’t care. Some of his teachers don’t have a good command of the English language and he can’t understand what they are saying. Some of his instructors arrive unprepared to teach. You can’t expect to come to a paralegal program (which is only 13 months) with no knowledge or previous experience and expect to be the best. That won’t happen. It’s up to you to make sure you understand everything and in addition to that, make sure you have some kind of talent. Cuz if you don’t, no matter where you go (job-wise) you will be rejected. It’s funny how only the losers that have no job are posting bad reviews. The smart people are doing this program to get licensed asap because they know they’re good. What about patrolling with a police officer in a community! They are so quick to enroll you with no background check…Sometimes it`s good to play dumb to see how people are coming at you. The comments here are all mostly true. Some may be a bit over the top but all in all… agreed. Herzing College is rotten. The fact that they hire grads from their own programs should be a clue. What qualifies them to be teachers? They pay them the minimal wage. The students are desperate and wouldn’t stand much of a chance in a real university. In addition the diploma is a year or whatever, it wouldn’t help them in securing a career. I would think that they are only attending so they can secure the loan. One of the comments here about the teacher having a beer with a student simply shows the unprofessional attitude they take. After spending your loan you are still requires to pay for textbooks and graduation? What a joke! Like the warning at the top of this page stay well clear of this so called college.

  • This site was recently brought to my attention, and I have read every word written by the entrants. As an honours graduate student from Herzing myself, I find many of the comments over the top, rude, unjustified, and unprofessional. If some of these disgruntled persons think that such behavior and defamatory remarks on their part is fair, then I see why they might not fit into a “paralegal” program. It is unfortunate that anyone can post such offensive messages on here and conceal their identity. By doing so, are they really afraid to be exposed (or be held accountable) for such statements? Taking a paralegal course is much like putting money into the bank. Hopefully, you get out of it as much as you put in, but with a little interest.

The defamatory and unjustified criticisms of some of the instructors are shameful. Also, I think that many of the negative remarks undermine the dedication and hard work that so many wonderful students put into learning about the profession and obtaining a diploma. Good luck to those who did it. I’m personally aware of a number of graduate students from Herzing who are amongst some of the brightest and most talented people I could hope to meet. André

I caught a student cheating and told the school and what happened next? I saw the instructor and the same student having a beer together in a restaurant which is a floor below the school. Another instructor came to class with alcohol on their breath almost every class. My instructor lost my assignment and blamed me for it as well. I have six years of formal education and have never had a teacher blame me for losing an assignment until I went to this school. The worst thing about the whole experience was that when I tried to request the school to deal with these problems they told me that there was nothing that could be done unless I had proof. How do you prove that your instructor was having a beer with the student that you reported for cheating? How do you prove that your instructor is an alcoholic? When I finished my courses and asked for my transcript, the college claimed I didnt complete the program. They lost my records for two courses I took! This college was a nightmare.

  • I was in the Paralegal Program and quit. I am now registered at another College.

Herzing’s program is rushed and unorganized and sometimes taught by non licensed legal professionals, this is not allowed according to the Law Society whom I complained.

They also charged me a cancellation charge and now I am considering legal action. The Director George is a sleaze, do not trust him and Linda and Karen are just liars.

  • Why is it that this site will only accept negative comments and not positive? Most students received an excellent education and found internships and full-time employment. The students that complain are normally poor students and would rather blame the college than themselves.

I happen to know what DD says is true because I was unfortunate enough to attend this school only to be very dissapointed by the lies and especially their idiot dean named emilio. what an a*****e!

  • I haven’t even enrolled in this college and it reeks of SCAM all over it. I was inquiring about the Immigration Consultant program and the admission people have called me 4 times since I first inquired about the program and all I wanted to know was the price! Each time they called they gave me different information about the time that the courses run, about the content, and the professors. They don’t even have their instructors in place and they’re trying to recruit me using the “hard sell” techniques. It’s disgusting. Their program is almost $7,000.00 and I could do the same thing at Humber (a real, reputable school, with NORMAL admission procedures that don’t involve sales tactics) for less than $3,000.00 – that’s more than twice as much money!!!

When I asked who the professors were so that I could google them and see their immigration consultant credentials, she told me they were still in the midst of hiring them, which is true, because I saw a JOB AD looking for instructors online just last week!!! PATHETIC! When I said I wasn’t interested in going to a place that has never run the course before and has no success rate to show yet, the admissions lady said “it doesn’t matter what school you go to to learn the information, it’s just passing the test that matters” and I’m like, no, it does matter who I learn from, because I will be dealing with PEOPLE’S LIVES and immigration when I graduate, and I want to make sure I know what I’m talking about and that I have learned from the best of the best.

Sadly, this is not the case. They need to spend more time on recruiting proper professors and learning about the courses they’re trying to “sell” to unsuspecting students, and less time recruiting students at TWICE THE PRICE of a regular, highly rated, college. These ppl are Con artists and care nothing about the students! I dont’ care that your crappy college has been around for more than 50 years… all you’d be doing for me is treating me to a $6,600.00 grave injustice!

And I believe what those other ppl are saying about the courses changing times 1/2 way between the year cuz the first guy who calle dme said the course runs 1-6pm, but when I told the 2nd woman who called that those times didn’t work for me, all of a sudden they’re offering the same course from 6-11pm. Seems totally sketchy and I would run for the hills from this place ASAP!!!

  • I was suckered into believing what the school told me about how they would not only teach me everything that I would need for my field of study, but afterwards they would help me find a job in that field! BULLS###! After I had graduated they had no more interest in me other than to ask me to pay $5o for my own graduation plus $10 per guest to come see me get my diploma that I spent over $13,000 of OSAP money to get NO job!!!!!!

If they are at the same level of education at the other colleges, then why is it that most of the graduates half to go to Seneca, George Brown, Ryerson, etc.
after they graduate so that they can be at the satisfactory academic level for those hiring in the field????????

Best advice is to just go to one of the big name colleges instead of wasting time and MONEY on this so called “academic” school that no one knows or trust!

Main problem. People who would hire you do not like 1 year career colleges. Most know nothing about Herzing, and would perfer to hire a 2 year program graduate from somewhere like George Brown or Seneca.
Very low ratio of students from this program find jobs.

The Police Fpoundations Program which cost close to 15 grant is a fraud, misrepresentation of something which is not…. Itis like this.. read it carefully… According to them, when and if you complete or finish the program for one year… You will have a career in the following governement office such as- The R.C.M.P.. The O.P.P.. Canadian Armed Forces,The Toronto Police Service Wow! That Great!….. But wait! The abovementioned career would be offices do not require anybody nor anyone to finish Police Foundations Program to qualify totheir Agency or office! In an elementary explanation….. you still have to go to their required training hwether academics or physical. The program is nothing to them nor will it will count. The bottomline is a fraud. A scam. the school will just take the money and PARTY! While those poor student who have defrauded and cheated will go home a sore loser! While stupid, rat people and staff are laughing when we have turned our backs. Anyways, be intelligent, analize very well and most of all read all the student reviews of colleges and universities in ontario. Wish everyone the best. One more thing. Forget about this College. They are close to the bottom of the rankings! Go to George…..

  • I went to this school. One of my teachers would get mad because she couldnt handle questions that were asked. She was hired after she graduated from the paralegal. We all knew she didnt know anything. Another teacher took us to court to watch his case. He did very bad and lost. I complained to the dean named emilio about many things and he got mad at me and told me that i had no right to complain and that if i didnt like it, to quit. i was told by others that he said the same to them. Daniel was one of my teachers as well. He was the only one that truly cared about the students and the only teacher that knew anything. what i dont understand is why this schoool is still in business.

  • What a load of bull!! Daniel is the best thing going for Herzing College. The previous comment is obviously from some digruntled student that Daniel probably failed because of their own problems. Can’t say much for the school though. What a joke! The dean is a jerk and the rest of the teachers don’t know what they are talking about. When you complain, you actually get into trouble. Do your self a favour, avoid this school. But if you do decide to check it out, definitely check out Daniel’s class, you will be inspired by his enthusiasm and his drive.

  • I graduated from the paralegal program from Toronto campus. What a joke this school is, especially the legal department. One instructor was borrowing money from students, and was fired. The one that took over, Daniel, is supposed to be the director, but does not know the first thing about law. He openly talks to students about dating 8 students at the same time, snorting coke in his hippy days, tells students they have to take him and his wife (who was a student) for dinner if they want more information from him. Some students even fall for that crap. Lies and spends half his time on facebook.

    Don’t waste your money.

  • Over all administrative staff is very nice but the Career Services Staff behaves as if they are in President Obama’s office, very rude to the students. They forgot that we guys are paying $17000 for the course to help us out and not make things difficult for us. This guy Byron (Director Career Services) doesn’t even talk to or even wishes anyone rather he turns his face around if you wish him. His assistant Margaret is one step ahead of him and she is out right rude to all the students. You will see them (the whole group of 3-4 career service people) most of the time going down for a smoke and coffee. But if you want to see them, you have to take an appointment. I don’t know why George has kept these redundant guys in this department, may be they come very cheap like our instructors. The graphic design instructors have no knowledge of the latest industry trends. One of them is quite old-fashioned frame of mind and comes to teach us in weird clothes and not making much sense. His communication skills are poor and doesn’t follow the curriculum, a waste of very expensive time. The other instructor is a graduate from the same college, copies material from Linda.com site and I must say this place lacks dress code for teachers, look very unprofessional. In the name of text books, these instructors are photocopying books (piracy) and giving these to the students. In a nutshell, please do not waste your time and money here. It will go to waste. They promised us that number of students will be 20-25 but they exceeded 35. It is a money making scam these guys are running. Rest is up you to decide.

I did not see student happy there, no excitments on the faces about what they were learning. Class rooms were very small and packed. I have met Eidith Pierce the admission advisor & Karen Lavallee one of the director of admissions and come back home very disappointed, with the feeling of total waste day.
