when you go on the tours they tell you all these facts about how good ccsu is and all the clubs it offers. In reality the campus is dead because 70% of students are commuters so if your looking for college life don’t go here. If you like sports don’t go here, ccsu is ranked close to if not the worst in D1 sports. I don’t remember the last time we won anything! The administration is terrible and advisers don’t know what they are doing. programs and teachers/advisers are so bad that majority of students have to go onto at least one extra semester, if not more. Majority of the professors are bad (my math professor was so bad my freshman year it was his first and last semester teaching here). there is not college life, education is poor (unless you are engineering, from what I hear that program is good).
If I knew what I know about college now I would never had applied to CCSU. start looking at how much financial aid other schools will give, (though they might seem expensive it might end up being cheaper after fin aid and scholarships) start looking what type of recruiters for jobs visit your campuses. And don’t listen to people who say your college doesn’t matter! this is why I included the bit about on campus recruiting. I have friends who I am smarter than and more well rounded but because they go to better colleges than me they most of the time have better opportunities because of the name. Don’t waste 4 years of your life
Went to meet with admissions today. Besides the rudeness of the staff and how no credits within the state university system seem not to transfer to other community and state colleges is beyond ridiculous! I already have my license as a nurse in the state but am going back to further my education. The administrator was very condescending and stated ” we only allow students who don’t kill there patients.” Not only is this very offensive but very condescending. Will be reporting this individual to the academic dean highly recommend people pay extra money to go to a more expensive school than deal with the nonsense from cheap state colleges and universities. These colleges and universities are only in it for the money!!!!
Worst!!!!!!!!!!!!!1
I agree with Randy. At Central there are a few (and I mean a FEW) professors who are incredible, and are really passionate about teaching and the quality of student life. For the most part, there are arrogant professors, a very smug and degrading administration, and zero organization when it comes to advising. Recently I met with an advisor in my major, she was unaware that my cumulative GPA from my past college would count towards the professional program I am applying to, and that I am not a good enough student and will not be accepted into this program. Little did she know I have a 3.77 GPA for last semester. After transferring to central almost two years ago with my associate degree…I was being told I wouldn’t be accepted into the program that I had been working very hard towards for 2 years. Not only that, but the head of my department is also telling me I still have 2 more years to go before I graduate. Well, the advisor called the head for me to find out that she was wrong and they would include my GPA from my previous college in my acceptance into the program. Basically, everyone at the school is telling me something different, so they need to communicate better with each other and not act like the students have 5 heads when they ask to be advised. Now, that being said… this was 2 years for my associate degree, which not all credits transferred in, not because of grades, but simply because Central didn’t feel like accepting them. Also, almost 2 years at Central already, and being told I have 2 more…since when does it take 6 years full time to graduate with a 4 year bachelor degree? Someone…please tell me! If you’re looking at Central, look somewhere else!
This is the worse university!!!
I wish I didn’t go to CCSU. The staff was very unhelpful for the most part and were very arrogant in their laziness. I’ve had so many problems with the school of business, the financial aid office, and of course the registrar’s office. Navigating the beuracracy of ccsu is a frustrating task where people bounce you from office to office trying to dump the responsibility of answering your question or doing their job on the next person. There are a few excellent professors there however which take their jobs seriously and actually have a passion for what they teach. Most professors though……eh not so much. I’m not saying all the teachers there suck but like the saying goes, “those who can’t do, teach and those who can’t teach, teach at CCSU.” The job fair was a joke and was filled with sleezeballs peddling commission only sales jobs selling junk insurance policies to people you know and invitations to be part of pyramid scams. The students at CCSU are ok for the most part: there’s a good amount of high school under-achievers (where I fit in), not-so-talented jocks, weird art kids, those really cool kids that take steroids and wear tapout shirts, and the wannabe rapper kids. Now don’t get me wrong, within all these satirical subgroups there are a lot of really decent down to earth people. New Britain is kind of a crappy setting for a school (if you don’t believe me, hang out there for a week or so). Don’t waste your time and money to graduate in 5 years (something like less than 5% of ccsu students graduate in 4 years). You are better off going to a community college and trying to transfer to uconn if you can only get into this school. Sorry I provided such a biased review but my experience wasn’t so good and a lot of other students have had similar experiences to mine.
