4 Student Reviews of East Tennessee State University

  • Though it may be partially because I was young when I first attended this college, it was a dismal experience. The faculty is disorganized, constantly screwing up class scheduling. The college has a bad habit of keeping their students in the dark about important matters, especially when it comes to financial aid. I had a couple of inspiring teachers, but most of the classes were boring at best and nightmarish at worst. ETSU has a lovely campus, but that’s about all it has going for it. It was just BAD, all talk and little action.

    Overall Score: (1.45/5.00)
  • The main complaint about ETSU is the area. You either love it or hate it. For me, there really wasn’t much to be interested in, especially during the weekends (most leave). If you like the outdoors or rural life, this is the place for you. If you’re looking for your typical college town, go somewhere else. Academics are decent and the staff is average. People are generally respectful, but diversity is lacking.

    Overall Score: (2.72/5.00)
  • You will not be told upfront about their shady tactics. Advisers give incorrect information and hinder people from getting their degrees. Many professors do not even respond to the students throughout the semester and when they are reported to their superior nothing is done. This college also offers many required classes only during day hours so if you have a regular job you will be in trouble and stuck when you reach the required classes. BEWARE!!! Go to another college and steer very clear of this one. Do not waste your time or money at ETSU! If you do not care about learning anything then this is the place for you.
