I have had no problems getting financial aid disbursements in a timely manner! This is an intensive university…not for those who don’t take dedication to their studies seriously! I highly recommend this university! I have nothing negative to say.
    Overall Score: (3.91/5.00)

Do not go to Mid-America Christian University. Do not waste your time. I am suffering a lot to get my money from Financial Aid during my last three semesters. Financial Aid Department are some expert kind of liars and dishonest people ready to excuse their selves and do everything possible to retain your money. If you decides go there, you’ll be prepare to expend a lot calls and time with the incompetence of the Financial Aid Department, business office, teachers, deans and etc. At the end (if you are lucky) you will get your money in the last week of the semester. My rate 1/5
    Overall Score: (2.71/5.00)

STUDENTS BEWARE: If you are looking for a school that will disburse your Financial Aid in a timely manner—cross this one off your lists. If you are looking for a school that has a Business Office who knows what they are doing—cross this one of your list. Every semester I have to call the Financial Aid office between 40-80 times about my disbursement. These are the reason why they say they haven’t disbursed me:
1.) Your teacher haven’t notified us, that you are passing (This is a lie, because your grades are always posted to the my portal website, if they would just look)
2.) You are missing a document (I haven’t seen any email or receive a phone call about this. 9 times out of 10, you don’t have to send in anything, because they miraculously find it on they own—Liars)
3.) We just upgraded our system and we are still trying to figure it out! (It’s funny how they upgraded the system every semester—another lie)
4.) We are just waiting for the Business Office (call the business office and they tell you they don’t understand what the Financial Aid office is waiting for—a lie again)
5.) We haven’t received your loans yet (It’s funny when I call the student loan number they say the exact opposite, and tell me the day the school received the money and tell me to speak to an supervisor in the Financial Aid department-surprisingly the school lied again)
You ask why I still go to this School? It’s because the teachers are great and I’m still researching other schools that offer 100% online classes. But, I’ll advise anyone who are thinking about transferring to this school against it! I encouraged a friend to attend this school—and she transferred back to her old school after the first semester, she said she couldn’t deal with the incompetence of the Business and Financial Aid office.

Please find another University to attend if possible. You will be very disappointed if you enroll at MACU.

I have been attending this school since 2010, while I think the academics are good at the school. They have horrible customer service when dealing with students in regards to financial aid. Furthermore they also did not ask students for permission or provide them with informed consent before enrolling students into a financial management program called SALT Money from which you will receive emails and calls about repayment of loans. Students are able to talk directly to the department of education themselves concerning repayment options through NELNET which is the Govt. servicer of these loans.

Recently MACU has adopted a policy of not providing financial aid overages to students at the beginning of the semester, like most other colleges and universities. They also have made the decision to provide disbursements of overages into two separate payments at the mid point of the semester and at the end. When I inquired about this a woman in financial aid said it was to help students, however now students such as myself cannot use that overage immediately to obtain necessary items such as a new laptop or other school related expenses. Further more when MACU did provide the overage disbursement at the beginning of the semester it often took as long as four weeks for it to arrive where as at my previous school the overage disbursement was available on the same day the semester started.

The most recent financial aid award to me from MACU was actually smaller than I was supposed to get based on my SAR from the Dept. of Education. Other schools were going to grant me the maximum I was eligible for. MACU also treats their adult students far differently than traditional students who have recently graduated high school, which other colleges and universities do not do. It is a serious trial and effort to obtain even the most basic of services from MACU such as a student ID required for buying such educational items as educational editions of software to help save on school costs.

Were it not for the fact I am very close to graduating and I do not want to have to transfer at this late date I would not choose to attend MACU again no matter how good the academics are at the school. They seem to have forgotten that students are actually customers of their services and products and that the financial aid money being spent at the school is actually the students money.

    Overall Score: (2.91/5.00)
