  • Sheridan College absolutely sucks. I’m in my last semester and I’m supposed to graduate in April, however they apparently did not make enough electives for all students. When you go to the front desk the guy slaps a piece of paper in front of you and says these are the people to contact to yell and complain about not creating enough electives for all students. When I contacted the office, they said oh well there’s nothing we can do, come back next semester and pay another $1,000 of money you don’t have. It’s a scam and a money making business. They don’t care about you and the staff sucks. They tell all students to wait until their last semester to enroll in electives then say there is not enough room for all of you. What a joke! If you want to get s**t on go to Sheridan College.

Not worth it, some nurses in the school even messed up my vaccine because they are not checking the vaccination policy. I got double dose for suposedly only 1 dose vaccine because I already had it as a child.

  • It’s an affordable college, but that’s it.
Teachers don’t want to teach, they just post recorded videos, the same videos for all their sections. Not sure why I pay for 6 hours of live teaching when I only get may 30 minutes for some of the classes. The longer you are at the college the less the staff wants to help you. My first 2 semesters I got tons of assists with my schedule and accommodations, but 3rd semester not so much and 4th semester none.
Don’t waste your money on this college.
Their website says there is an indigenous center, but only at 1 of 3 campuses. The Indigenous coordinator is great, but the college itself really does not support its indigenous students. We were given a room for 3 hours a day, which it seemed we were kicked out of more often then not for double bookings.
I went to Humber previously and their indigenous area is fantastic! If you are indigenous go to Humber NOT Sheridan.

  • I never expected this level of collages to exist in Canada. Instructors have nothing to do but wasting time in the lectures by talking about their past personal life and their families. They treated the student very badly. Never answer their questions, emails, concerns related even during COVID-19. Management and administration don’t even care. When I went once to complain about an instructor, They answered me: this man has power and nobody can challenge him, better to keep your voice silent, otherwise he will fall you. The other instructor refused to communicate with the students during COVID-19 via a virtual classroom because he is not confident of his accent and scared that students will record his voice. I’m really in shock

Sheridan College doesn’t really hold you hand so if you don’t put the work in the fail you but I never had this problem.

I also had no problem get bursaries from the school when I applied, it was only like $500 a year but still at least it was something.

All for the sole purpose of extracting as much money as possible from you.
    Sheridan college is fraud.
Sheridan college is a sham, a shakedown, it is extortion, it is a hoax.
Everything they tell you is a lie. Everything they say they contradict the next time you speak to them and if you point out the contradictions they will pretend as if you’ve violated the student code of conduct to punish you and keep you in silence.
Sheridan administrators and employees are crooks, scoundrels, swindlers with no sense of ethics, no conception of right and wrong. Sheridan college is run by psychopaths interested only in exploiting you to their own personal benefit.

Courses: content is almost always old and full of errors. Which you might think “if it’s old how did no one ever fix the errors?” and that’s a damn good question!
Programs: They don’t provide the proper course availability to complete your program in the normal amount of time. Prerequisite courses will randomly be unavailable forcing you to take at least one extra term(and pay one extra term in tuition and ancillary fees)
Attitude: This institution is incredibly authoritarian, they don’t want you to know anything about anything. This college is less transparent than the business dealings of Jeffrey Epstein.

  • I studied engineering here. The diploma I was rewarded with holds no market value since most of the jobs I can apply for require no post-secondary education. This diploma will not help you find a job. It will only act as a stepping-stone to a degree and that’s about it.

Professors: Some good, a lot bad. A lot of the professors suck. Even worse, some are tyrants and don’t want you to succeed. They will grade you in a way as to end your career. You may not get any credit on your original work either, especially if you had a lazy albeit manipulative partner who managed to ‘get into bed’ with your instructor.

Networking: Zilch, nada, zero, notta. No networking to speak of. You may have the odd business come in to recruit, but they are only doing this because the job they’re offering pays minimum wage and nobody else is willing to take it. The school won’t help you find a job.

Area/Housing: Brampton sucks – it’s literally India. People don’t wear deodorant and have poor manners. They piss all over the seats and don’t flush; they are disgusting.

Atmosphere: Absolute shiiite. You will have a hard time making friends and finding a girlfriend if you aren’t a Punjabi international student or some hood rat.

Administration: Awful. These people are monsters. I’ve had very late OSAP funds come in or have them denied because the imbecilic administration staff can’t do their jobs. Shirl*y Ch*n and the OSAP office employees are cancerous.

Seriously, don’t go here under any circumstances. This school merely acts as some sort of permanent resident factory for the Punjabi community for Peel Region and that’s about it. You might as well burn your money and go into a coma for 2-3 years instead lmao

  • I took an environmental program here, and it sucked.

The campus is pretty much India so you’re s**t out of luck if you’re not one of them if you want to make friends, find a girlfriend, etc.

The quality of instructors is fairly low. There are some gems but for the most part they are tyrants. You may not receive any credit for your original work and will be graded such that you cannot further your education after this shithole.

Career prospects are low. It will be almost impossible to find a decent-paying job and you will have no choice other than to pursue further education elsewhere.

Networking opportunities do not exist. There may be the odd local business coming in to have networking events but they are simply recruiting for companies which will offer slave-labour wages for jobs nobody else wants to take.

Do yourself a big favor here and do not register under any circumstance. The only reason people go here, and the only reason it exists, is because it serves as a permanent resident factory for Punjabies in Brampton or Mississauga.

Don’t come here. You may as well burn your money and spend 2-3 years in a coma instead.

  • I didn’t go to Davis, but Sheridan recently moved the Davis kids to HMC for my program in my final year. These people hardly speak English, let alone write. I got stuck in a group of 5 international students, in which they only spoke in Hindi. I pretty much had to strong-arm any international student to actually do their work, which was always done EXTREMELY poorly.

If you are a normal person (straight, conservative, native student) Sheridan will not help you in any way. Sheridan jumps through hoops to protect its International and LGBT students because of the sheer hell that student body can put them through.

Take your hard earned money and go to Humber, you will have a much better time there and they actually care about ALL of their students, including your average Canadian!

They hire uneducated idiots based on what’s ON their head rather than what’s IN it! The most anti-white, anti- straight male institution in Canada! Schools are meant to foster a thirst for knowledge, a quest for an answer and to provide students with the tools to do so.

this this is no school, it is nothing more then a soft fraud

PLEASE DO NOT ENROL IN THE ENVIRONMENTAL TECH PROGRAM IT IS A FARCE!

A more appropriate name would be a CHEMICAL TECH

The Courses often reuse units from previous courses, slide for slide, example for example. thus

Although some of the professors have extensive backgrounds in their respective industries the lack the communication skills required to effectively teach.

This culminates with wide spread academic dishonesty that runs unchecked. I have listened to student presentations wherein I was able to locate the exact presentation used…. on another universities website (it was a guest speakers presentation at that uni). In other instances group members have sent me literal screenshots of someone else’s powerpoint slides in an attempt to pass them off as their own.

I have witnessed “students” using smart watches and smart phones during exams, and often simply conversing during the exam with no repercussions.

I have additionally had to sit through several tests and exams where the staff whom are supposed to be patrolling and preventing said cheating have been enjoy a casual chinwag regarding weekend plans…… oblivious to the activities around them.

Finally it is abundantly evident that many of the “teachers” have absolutely no desire to teach. labs start 15-30minutes late consistently yet if you do not finish in time you are docked a considerable percentage. and those running the labs talk down to students as if they where second class citizens.

Words can not even begin to expound as too how embarrassed and disappointed I am to attend this building.

Everyday I attend this”school” my hope diminishes, my confidence crumbles and I truly ask my self what is the point in it all?

This “institution” has broken me, all my progress, all my planning, all my hope….. deflated.

The teachers read from prepared slides many of which have been created years before, consist in numerous errors, and are overly simplistic and do not explain anything. You will have an in class assignment on the material you supposedly learned the previous hour, and you will be marked on your partners’ work. The teachers refuse to help you, insisting you should be paying attention during class. They will not give you practice questions (how else are you supposed to grasp math?). Tests will be too long for time allotted (numerous TAs have told me on multiple occasions that not even they were able to finish). You have no or minimal control over your schedule. You’ll have an 8am class and then nothing until 4pm. Many of our tests are 8pm so have fun being there for over 12 hours on those days. And we’re expected to somehow do well under these conditions. Many teachers have no idea how to prepare assignments and tests. In our labs we’re often scolded for making mistakes and we’re too afraid to ask questions. To add to this our labs (which are supposed to teach us our future professions) are rushed because the instructors just want to get on with their day so it seems the point is not to learn about our jobs but to get marked. Maybe I should get a job as a “markee” because getting marked is all I’m learning here.

If you hear to learn and develop your language skills how can you attending the campus with 80% Indian South Asian origin? That said I heard horror stories and know of disappointing features to Davis campus. A great percentage of students work under the table illegally. They work 40 and 50 hours to send money home and pay rent and school fees which are triple the amount of Canadian student. Why Candian student who want a part time job sometimes have trouble because these guys work for less under the table. It’s super hard to transfer credits here all they want is cash. Davis is closed down by midnight and after 10 certain areas closed, however, Oakville campus open 24 hours, but its Oakville I guess the reason being people here commit less crime and trouble. The washroom outdated. they keep constant smell of urine and I was told by cleaners the girls washroom is worse. The women might not want to plant their BUMS on seat so urine and fecas falls on floor and lids and they leave it. The people smell really bad I don’t want to sound mean. I learned that SIKHS do not use perfumes or deodorant. They smell of sweat. The international students and other Indian students they work to pay students fees. Sheridan loves International students more money for them so if they stink they don’t care. My program not offered at OAKVILLE. I cried so bad at reaiity it sinks in the 2nd week. You feel like going around with a mask the body odour men and women. They all work 60 hours a week. they cannot write good essays or speak proper English. How do they pass? We have some blacks most of them don’t smell but one or two Africans the fucking body odour just like the Indians. the Jamaicans are alright they like to copy your work. Not the brightest but seriously the pakistani are just as dumb even dumber. Yeah you will find a smart Indian and black person. you will find the odd Indian who don’t stink they are really nice. Oakville different its nice mix of people not too bad on smell. when someone stinks it’s either a Asian or Indian at Oakville and if Indian he just taking 1 credit here his home campus is Brampton. The food sucks at Davis you want to kill someone take him to Indo hot and order the wings ..they closed that place down for rats few years ago. The back just filthy but you can watch video on internet and they will tell you that these people in rural areas don’t have toilets they bathe in rivers. the city dirty and unsanitary they a temple they worship rats and its full of millions of rats. irs really gross. i never knew it was so bad. The professors here are mostly willing to help but one sticks out like a sore thumb. My web design professor threatened to deduct marks off my assignment because she couldn’t find my assignment in the zip file which apparently had too many files in them. How the f**k are you gonna deduct marks because you’re an incompetent piece of s**t professor
The amount of cheaters in the school is also really high. If caught, there is a huge chance that the professor might not do anything about it!

Every time I had an exam, there was at least 1, who used a cellphone. And guess what happened during my midterm. The professor said you can use your cellphone during the midterm but only use the calculator app. What kind of student is only going to use the calculator app during the exam? Exactly no one. During my second semester, someone was caught cheating with a phone and guess what the teacher did? Absolutely nothing and said not to do it again. Even the teachers are not enforcing the college rules.

During the lectures, almost all of the professor at Sheridan College spend their time with their stories and can barely explain anything. I had one prof who couldn’t even speak loudly.

  • Someone here made a comment about ethnicity; how “foreing students” apparently make up the “majority” of students at Sheridan. THIS IS FALSE.
First, provincial law limits the number of foreign students. Sheridan takes advantage of this limit to the fullest extent much like all other Canadian schools to maximize their profits.
Second, the reason there appears to be a lot of “visible minorties” is not because they are foreign, it is because (1) the Mississauga and Brampton locations are close to communities that have a larger visible minority population AND the majority of these visible minorities are BORN IN CANADA – just like me. As Canada grows, there are many 2nd and 3rd visible minorties BORN in CANADA, paying the same ripp-off taxes and tuition just like you. So get over it. We don’t bite. Unless you want us to!

  • Do not send your kids to this school. This school practices the “flipped classroom” model – that means, they do not lecture at all. Students read the textbook on their own, then come to class to play silly activities, discussions. Students are tested on the textbook material. Therefore, Sheridan gets away with charging you the same cost of tuition of other schools, while to not actually teaching their students anything. Also, note, Sheridan courses, even degree courses, are not accepted as equivalents at any other university in Ontario. Keep that in mind, if your child tells you they plan to do just a year at Sheridan to get their GPA up, then transfer to a more reputable educational institution.
In a nutshell, in terms of degree programs, this school is no different than an online university. If you are disciplined enough to learn on your own, you can do well by not having to attend all classes. THis is one advantage and this is possible. However, if you are not disciplined enough to self-teach (likely you/the student is not, otherwise they would already be at a more reputable and real university) they flunk out!! Sheridan would then have successfully stolen your money too!

  • My biggest issue with Sheridan as a whole is the staff. Myself studying business in Human Resources think that the staff should take some of the courses I’m taking. Personally I’ve struggled with health issues (cancer and autoimmune disease). For anyone who has any kind of disability or health issue, this is NOT the school for you. The staff are neglectful, uneducated and useless. If you miss classes or need to drop them, you loose your money. It doesnt matter if you’re on chemo and having multiple life saving surgeries. They take your money and there is no getting it back. I’ve been struggling to get a education for a long time but sheridan doesnt modify or even attempt to make exceptions. The students are all very “highschool” in the way that they haven’t grown up yet. The age group seems to be younger and doesnt vary in age groups. In terms of classes and education, its okay. I went to college because I wanted it to be hands on. Some classes are good, but others are dry and all theory. You have to pick your profs wisely because some have such a strong accent that you don’t understand them. You also might get profs who just don’t show up to their own classes! Sheridan uses a online program called “slate” to communicate to your prof, class and show the class courseload and lessons online. Slate is highly overrated, is a disorganized mess with a failed system that is constantly wrong. It will tell you that you’re failing a class when you’ve gotten straight A’s. It will say you failed a online test and then your prof has to tell you it was a tech error. Half of the assignments you can’t download. The housing is horrible and they don’t make any effort to have planned activities or events. Overall the school looks more like a jail than a school. Even if you are a healthy student ready to learn- don’t go here. Unless you have a liking for bullys and pervs for class mates, poor lessons, horrible staff and absent housing. Overall this school was worse than highschool. It has reincarnations of Regina George everywhere and the male ego reaches a new high on the basketball team. There are a lot of pointless filler courses, and the whole thing seems like a waste of money. You can learn programming better on Udemy, Coursera, and Youtube than what most profs here teach. My advice is to just try to get into coop, and then leave to pursue industry certifications or do an actual degree. And do as much studying on your own as you can, you will need it.
The teachers here, at least for the intro courses are sub-par..and most of them don’t really like teaching because they’re part-time and not paid well. The students are mostly international, not domestic. Nothing wrong with international students or anything, but as someone who doesn’t speak the language, it can be a bit hard to fit in or make friends due to the language barriers. But they’re nice students and generally pretty welcoming.
I was not a fan of the administration at all-I found a lot of things boiled down to the bottom line-to make money at the expense of students. And to bombard you with really pointless unnecessary courses that you don’t need. My advice is to do the challenge exams for those if you can, and save at least $500 per course.
As for parking and transit, those are in close availability, as is housing.
If anyone wants to talk about SDNE and my thoughts about the program, feel free to message. But after this semester I’m probably just going to pursue industry certifications because that’s a better use of money than a diploma from this college.

Obviously this isn’t a problem, the only issue I find is making new friends due to the language barriers. If you aren’t very social then that wouldn’t matter.

From my experience the professors were nice and helpful. If you’re someone that’s just focused on getting your education then I think this school is fine. From my experience most students in my class were there to get their diploma and move on.

It’s a very tame place, if you’re looking for an outgoing social life with that lively college experience then this isn’t the best choice. This place has a relaxed environment and it’s very easy going. It’s okay, especially if you’re looking for something closer to home.

I’m just finishing my first semester, but it feels like I’ve been there forever. From what I’ve noticed this far, it is rather multicultural to say the least. It’s not as bad as some of the reviews say it is though. The smell is only ever noticed in the elevators and in line for Tim Horton’s from what I’ve noticed. Most of the staff I’ve met have all been very friendly. However, I do issue a word of caution. If you are in the Social Service Work program in the future and you notice a Nancy Reeves as your TEACHER (refuse to call her a professor) try and get that class switched to another. My reasons are: She’s hard to understand (thick African accent), she is extremely unorganized as her SLATE page looks like it went through a blender, she can’t spell at all! It’s actually kind of funny, but she critiques our grammar and spelling when her incompetence is out of the question. She’s extremely defense as calling her results in her saying “Who has a Master’s degree in social? Me or you?”…this was said in response to a student, who responded by saying “actually, the correct way of saying that would be you, or I”…I’m not kidding. She professes her. Christianity to the point where it’s unacceptable. She is rude, unprofessional, an incompetent to teach. Students have reported their concerns, but I do not have the time, nor should I make time to make a formal complaint, followed by a hearing (I’m sure) to back up said claims. She is the only major complaint I have for this institution…She claims to be in a PhD. S.W. program, I find that hard to believe, unless TriOs is giving out PhD’s now?

Here are the positives and negatives about Sheridan College (Davis campus):

    Positives:

    – Some professors are good. You have to pick these professors for your classes, if you are to learn anything.

    – The campus is pretty safe overall. There is no gang violence or anything like that.

    – The campus is pretty big and it is kind of beautiful.

    – Plenty of restaurants and other stores nearby.

    – Sheridan College has its own bus shuttle. Public buses are also available, so there is virtually no major transportation problem.

    Negatives:

    – Some of the professors don’t deserve to teach. They are probably not bad human beings, but they just can’t teach effectively. Some of these professors don’t even know how to use SLATE (the platform they use to upload notes and assignments) effectively.

    – Sheridan College charges much higher fee compared to some other colleges. I don’t quite understand how can they charge this much, considering they are not a university. You can possibly get similar education at many other community colleges for much lower fees.

    – They do not accept credit card or cash. Only thing they accept is debit card, which I find completely absurd. It is a pain on the backside to pay tuition fee at Sheridan College.

    – Lectures are nothing special. You are not going to be job-ready, if you just follow Sheridan lectures. You have to do your own studying. Only thing Sheridan will give you is a paper, that says you have completed formal education.

    – Apparently if you want to contact Sheridan College about information, you will have to call them. They do not list email addresses on their website. I find that pretty absurd, because not everyone likes to call.

Overall, I give this college and also the campus 2 out of 5. I think you can get similar education at other colleges for much lower fees.

The dean (well, when was the last time he helped any domestic student out anyway) is so not supportive. The people at advisement center give me the impression that they are being forced to work at Sheridan. The record specialists are only good at saying “Hello, bye”. The hallways and the library is more like an Indian Punjabi school where most of the time you will hear Punjabi bhangra music. it gets worst during the exams when teachers have to get out in the hallways to ask those international students to take their party elsewhere. Two former students of George Brown College’s international business management program allege it didn’t have the ability to confer the industry designations it promised. They launched the lawsuit in October 2008, seeking $10 million in damages and an Ontario Superior Court judge has now certified it as a class action suit representing 119 former students.

The allegations have not been proven in court.

The students say they paid as much as $11,000 to attend the eight-month program. The calendar said the program would provide students with “the opportunity to complete three industry designations/certifications” in addition to a graduate certificate from the college, according to the students’ statement of claim.

Upon completion they learned they wouldn’t be receiving the industry designations referred to in the course calendar, the students allege. In his decision, Justice George R. Strathy said most students would have read the calendar description and that the prominence given to the industry designations would suggest they were significant.

“A class action will provide access to justice to a vulnerable group of students, many of whom are from different lands and culture,” Strathy wrote. “Class members may lack the individual resources, initiative and sophistication to pursue legal action on their own and may be intimidated by the legal process.”

Of the 119 former students, 78 were international students who don’t live in Canada — most of them coming from either China or India.

Even the teachers don’t work that many hrs and who the hell is going to pay me for gas for travelling so far. These things are not told at the time of admission and the worst part is kept for the last. These idiots have no consideration when they do such a thing to a student. I have no job and kids are going to be on summer vacation and plus baby sitting cost. sOme of the teachers are so rude when they talk. so please be careful when you think of joining this hell.

Teacher use youtube to teach, so save your money and sit at home and watch the training on youtube. Some teacher are ok, rare ones are fantastic but overall, it’s full of sh.. I tried very hard to learn by myself to catch up with unorganized courses sequence for each year of the program. If it wasn’t the same instructor teach you the continuation courses for the coming year, you will totally get screwed up by the next professor. It seems like they had no communication of any kind, they assume on everything… nothing is clear to them. 1st year one instructor teach you ABC, the semester after they expect you to write a poem (if you know what I mean). It’s all messed up. I learnt about 30% of what I supposed to know by the end of the program, the rest I learnt by myself (watch tutorial online).

  • Very unprofessional, letter grades are given instead of precent grades, which are far too vague for anybody who likes to be on top of what the actual mark they are being given is. They are extremely money grabby as far as I am concerned. I was told I owed them money but when I inquired, they couldn’t figure out what I owed them for, but suggested that I pay them anyway! The teachers do not give structured lessons but instead rely on powerpoint and slideshows to do their jobs for them. I was required to take an english course that was “taught” by the most unprofessional woman ever, she never taught a lesson, but instead vaguely skimmed through 100 slide powerpoints with brief explanations, and it was our jobs to get the powerpoint off the server and read it ourselves later and figure out the material. The teachers I had to deal with were rude and did tend to pick on students and if mistakes were made the students were mocked, whether it was in “good fun” or not, that is not appropriate behaviour. Very rude faculty!

Plus most of the instructors are part timers that teach in high schools, universities and their is this one instructor that owns her own buisness which means she is a greedy mother f****r. Also there is this other instructor who only teaches one course and he is a third year student who is in coop meaning he gets paid two times good money which makes him a greedy m**********r.

Class sizes are fine. Friendly teachers, nice facility. I’m in January start Art Fundies, I’m half way through and so far it’s a great course. Yes, a lot of us are way ahead in the arts, but even in a fundamentals course we still learn a lot. I would recommend to anyone who thinks they’re way ahead of the game who just needs to brush up on art, take life drawing. Most useful course.

The school sis alright, don’t expect nothing. Not much diversity, a lot of brown people. Although it’s still growing, they should focus on making the quality of education rather than the interior designing of their new additions.

If you can, Humber is probably better, go there.

  • Stay away from this college. You can tell they are well funded by the government, but it has very poor administration. The financial aid office is a complete NIGHTMARE, they are more interested in getting the tuition from students that go to the school, then helping anyone.

Yes they had a good animation program IN THE EARLY 90’s. Now it’s a shadow of that. All the good teachers are gone, the program has not evolved. Disney does not recruit from there anymore (nobody does), those days are over, but Sheridan will ride that rep right into the ground taking all the money it can on the way. In fact most of the teachers there now are former students that failed in the industry and needed a job. Anyways back to the financial aid office.

I paid for the tuition out of my own pocket…that’s when everything went down hill as if I already paid tuition, then the Financial Aid office doesn’t care about anything else. I was hoping OSAP would help with my living fees. It took Sheridan 3 months and being treated like crap every time I walk into the financial aid office like I was bothering them by asking questions. 3 MONTHS well in school just to tell me I would not receive anything. It took a person all of 5 minutes to look at the numbers and tell me, and they could not be bothered doing that for 3 months. I was practically threatened to be kicked out if I questioned the Financial aid office and it’s horrible practices.

I loathe this school, if you want to be treated like a number and sheep being herded, Sheridan is the place for you.

  • I just finished my Degree in Animation in April. Although I can’t blame Sheridan for the weak job market I can say that its “great reputation” no longer exists. The whole school is keyed toward filling every seat and taking as much money as possible and not about putting out top of the line professionals. Its a shame because half of the teachers are fantastic, but they have to cater to the 125 students coming in every year (maybe half of which actually have the chops to be there and the rest are just filling the quota). Another thing, no one fails. By that I mean there is no way to fail this program except by failing one of the idiotic breadth electives which, by definition of a breadth elective, can have nothing to do with what you’re studying. But whatever, that’s Ontario’s standard. The point is that no matter how lazy, uncreative, and disrespectful you are, you get a Degree. So where does that leave me? The guy who worked his ass off for this piece of paper that we’re just handing out? I leaves me with very little is what it does. Great. The whole program (and the whole school) needs to be gutted and reorganized, but even the staff that would love to make positive change have to jump through so many hoops that it’ll never happen. Last thing, any statistics they’re throwing at you are made up. There’s no way to track half the information they’re claiming, its all about cramming enough people into that building that they turn a profit and if they flood the market with too many artists, I guess its not their problem.

  • I went to Sheridan for four years, one three year program and one post grad. I found that the courses didn’t prepare me for the work force at all. I was told to get additional computer training to become employable in my industry. The majority of the instructors had huge egos and we’re not very approachable and often played favourites. All that I learned to make me employable I learned on my own and worked very hard in intern positions and self study to get to where I am today. Sheridan needs better instructors who leave their design egos at home before coming to teach AND better preparation for the real world.

The volume 2 was taught by \’Karen Baker\’ and i cant describe how disappointing it was. No matter what you do pls do not enroll with karen baker. The women does not know how to teach. Any question you ask is either answered incorrectly or by saying that its not related to the course. Her way is too confusing and she is all over the place. You will save yourself four pointless years and get the same job anyway, you’ll just have less debt. Plus, you know what they say about those who teach. Sheridan’s teachers aren’t exactly at the top of their profession, they’re people who couldn’t hack it.

There is a huge communication barrier between the teachers and the students. I have had nothing but troubles trying to find extra help to get by in the programs, I will admit im not the fastest learner out there. But im always willing to give an effort and try my best. 2 of my professors struggle with speaking english, to me this is extremely unacceptable. At this point I am lost and I am about to give up and go elsewhere. I have tried to interact with upper management and they dont believe anything is wrong and side with the teachers. Very disappointed with my experience thus far, considering Niagara College as an alternative.

If you decide to argue your marks, you had better be ready with a lawyer because the Dean in the Brampton Location will side with the teachers no matter what. A student did get his/her way once but the person had to use a recording device to get the evidence. Then the professor tried to rally the other professors to have that student expelled.

  • I go to Sheridan for Electro-mechanical engineering. Originally started the program at Humber, completed first year and then dropped out. Transferred to Sheridan 2 years later.

    GO TO HUMBER

If you are trying to decide between these two colleges, pick Humber. The teachers I had at Humber were professional, and actually care about the subjects that they teach, and they teach them well.

This past year at Sheridan I have encountered the worst teachers in my experience as a student. Teachers that use poorly organized online resources as the focus their teaching.

At Humber you have theory classes, with competent teachers, and then labs, where you get to actually get your hands dirty.

At Sheridan they had you a Kit of electrical equipment, electrical diagrams and expect the students to learn through trial and error.

    SAVE YOURSELF THE TROUBLE.

I’m no slouch, I’m lucky i did a year at humber so I have some useful information to recall in labs. I feel bad for the guys in my classes who feel as though they’ re not bright enough for the material, when in fact its a result of Sheridan’s poor teachers.

    Overall Score: (3.54/5.00)
  • Comment is, if you get A’s 80% of the time and you outright fail with another faculty member at the Sheridan institute of Nursing, consistently and every time, regardless? That is the professionalism I have come to expect from exactly 20% of the Sheridan Nursing faculty members.

Heavy favoritism, the vague 1 on 1 oral tests worth 15% of your final or more that is nearly impossible to prove or disprove the fact if this teacher did what he/she is supposed to be doing?

The only defense and it is working so far are the students using secret hidden video’s and audio recordings.

It works and there are over 30 of us monitoring our teachers now, but only when we believe we are being cheated in this way, as it is the law when you suspect wrongdoing. This year and last, some of us have proved these facts and the Dean has had no choice in reprimanding them as well as barring them from that class.

One idea of mine is that we should be able to demand on any reasonable grounds that an oral test be accompanied by an impartial witness who knows the test and can appeal and demand a test redo when this teacher isn’t following the rules. Usually a former student will do.

I don’t care why it’s being done, just the fact that it is rather shameful. I lost a semester already and it’s not going to happen again.

BTW, the Dean is unsympathetic to any students plight. Any injustice written to this person is immediate forwarded back to the teachers your accusing making them aware that you are complaining of them. The person doing it would have been outright failed if the person wasn’t recording his or her classes AGAIN! However, disciplinary measures were implemented to those teachers who tape recorded and presented to her.

The damage is done, there is a group of us who want their lost semester back. The evidence is mounting and some of us are thinking about going to the media. Do what you will with this story. Thank you for your time and consideration.

  • I am a media arts graduate, and a Post Graduate
of the advanced film program. Sheridan College is
world famous for the CGI animation & film program.
But the reality is the jobs for graduates are very
    few, if any at all!!

Sheridan college pitches a good game, but they fall
really short in networking students for jobs.
The IATSE 667 Camera Training program, is such a rip
off for students. IATSE has rejected plenty of sheridan grads, with this useless certificate. I would
suggest applying to Nabet 700 CEP, as a permittee.
Sheridan left me unemployed, with no support after graduation.

Your better off renting a camera/gear from Sim
Video, for example. And doing your own short film
editing on Final Cut Pro, entering film video festivals , networking with other independent
filmmakers at LIFT or the Canadian Film Centre.

Your bank balance will be better off, so will your
piece of mind. Which is worth much more than a useless diploma from Sheridan!
