Teachers don’t want to teach, they just post recorded videos, the same videos for all their sections. Not sure why I pay for 6 hours of live teaching when I only get may 30 minutes for some of the classes. The longer you are at the college the less the staff wants to help you. My first 2 semesters I got tons of assists with my schedule and accommodations, but 3rd semester not so much and 4th semester none.
Don’t waste your money on this college.
Their website says there is an indigenous center, but only at 1 of 3 campuses. The Indigenous coordinator is great, but the college itself really does not support its indigenous students. We were given a room for 3 hours a day, which it seemed we were kicked out of more often then not for double bookings.
I went to Humber previously and their indigenous area is fantastic! If you are indigenous go to Humber NOT Sheridan.
Sheridan College doesn’t really hold you hand so if you don’t put the work in the fail you but I never had this problem.
I also had no problem get bursaries from the school when I applied, it was only like $500 a year but still at least it was something.
They will lie to you.
They will mislead you.
They will misdirect you.
All for the sole purpose of extracting as much money as possible from you.
Sheridan college is fraud.
Sheridan college is a sham, a shakedown, it is extortion, it is a hoax.
Everything they tell you is a lie. Everything they say they contradict the next time you speak to them and if you point out the contradictions they will pretend as if you’ve violated the student code of conduct to punish you and keep you in silence.
Sheridan administrators and employees are crooks, scoundrels, swindlers with no sense of ethics, no conception of right and wrong. Sheridan college is run by psychopaths interested only in exploiting you to their own personal benefit.
Please be advised this forum is being monitored. Your opinions are your own, however, racist speech affiliated with Sheridan College, including the hate speech of Students, will be reported to Peel Regional Police. As internet savvy people, you know the ISP (thus, account, name, address, etc) can be easily tracked.”
Lmao you disgusting pathetic tyrants, go f**k yourselves. Stop monitoring a forum and start fixing your god damn school you fucking scamming fraudsters.
“as internet savvy people”, how about as educated people, you fucking swine? You supposedly educated ass clowns are over here threatening to report speech to the police. How tremendously sad.
You should be prosecuted under organized crime laws.
Courses: content is almost always old and full of errors. Which you might think “if it’s old how did no one ever fix the errors?” and that’s a damn good question!
Programs: They don’t provide the proper course availability to complete your program in the normal amount of time. Prerequisite courses will randomly be unavailable forcing you to take at least one extra term(and pay one extra term in tuition and ancillary fees)
Attitude: This institution is incredibly authoritarian, they don’t want you to know anything about anything. This college is less transparent than the business dealings of Jeffrey Epstein.
Professors: Some good, a lot bad. A lot of the professors suck. Even worse, some are tyrants and don’t want you to succeed. They will grade you in a way as to end your career. You may not get any credit on your original work either, especially if you had a lazy albeit manipulative partner who managed to ‘get into bed’ with your instructor.
Networking: Zilch, nada, zero, notta. No networking to speak of. You may have the odd business come in to recruit, but they are only doing this because the job they’re offering pays minimum wage and nobody else is willing to take it. The school won’t help you find a job.
Area/Housing: Brampton sucks – it’s literally India. People don’t wear deodorant and have poor manners. They piss all over the seats and don’t flush; they are disgusting.
Atmosphere: Absolute shiiite. You will have a hard time making friends and finding a girlfriend if you aren’t a Punjabi international student or some hood rat.
Administration: Awful. These people are monsters. I’ve had very late OSAP funds come in or have them denied because the imbecilic administration staff can’t do their jobs. Shirl*y Ch*n and the OSAP office employees are cancerous.
Seriously, don’t go here under any circumstances. This school merely acts as some sort of permanent resident factory for the Punjabi community for Peel Region and that’s about it. You might as well burn your money and go into a coma for 2-3 years instead lmao
The campus is pretty much India so you’re s**t out of luck if you’re not one of them if you want to make friends, find a girlfriend, etc.
The quality of instructors is fairly low. There are some gems but for the most part they are tyrants. You may not receive any credit for your original work and will be graded such that you cannot further your education after this shithole.
Career prospects are low. It will be almost impossible to find a decent-paying job and you will have no choice other than to pursue further education elsewhere.
Networking opportunities do not exist. There may be the odd local business coming in to have networking events but they are simply recruiting for companies which will offer slave-labour wages for jobs nobody else wants to take.
Do yourself a big favor here and do not register under any circumstance. The only reason people go here, and the only reason it exists, is because it serves as a permanent resident factory for Punjabies in Brampton or Mississauga.
Don’t come here. You may as well burn your money and spend 2-3 years in a coma instead.
If you are a normal person (straight, conservative, native student) Sheridan will not help you in any way. Sheridan jumps through hoops to protect its International and LGBT students because of the sheer hell that student body can put them through.
Take your hard earned money and go to Humber, you will have a much better time there and they actually care about ALL of their students, including your average Canadian!
Next time just tell them you’re a minority or part of the LGBTQ community and believe me they’ll jump thru hoops to help you. This school doesn’t care about Canadians but seem to have an obsession with helping every god d**n f***in south Asian immigrant which is about 95% of their students. If you are part of the 5% then Sheridan doesn’t give a rats ass about you. Sad but true..They’re better off moving the whole college to India since that’s the only people they care about. Wear some religious head gear and you’ll instantly become their priority. Garbage school!!!
I do not feel safe with the student affair manger.
Student at the traflgar campus have cyber bullied me online, I cannot file for harrassment on them on the confession page. The college is ingoring me.
I tried to make a complaint on the college was ingored.
Security is not transparent.
I am left stress and enrolling in social serves was the biggest mistake of my life, I was mistreated.
The only resolution that I was told this is myself.
People failed me at trafglar.
Ruined my entire expirenice.
Schools are meant to foster a thirst for knowledge, a quest for an answer and to provide students with the tools to do so.
this this is no school, it is nothing more then a soft fraud
PLEASE DO NOT ENROL IN THE ENVIRONMENTAL TECH PROGRAM IT IS A FARCE!
A more appropriate name would be a CHEMICAL TECH
The Courses often reuse units from previous courses, slide for slide, example for example. thus
Although some of the professors have extensive backgrounds in their respective industries the lack the communication skills required to effectively teach.
This culminates with wide spread academic dishonesty that runs unchecked. I have listened to student presentations wherein I was able to locate the exact presentation used…. on another universities website (it was a guest speakers presentation at that uni). In other instances group members have sent me literal screenshots of someone else’s powerpoint slides in an attempt to pass them off as their own.
I have witnessed “students” using smart watches and smart phones during exams, and often simply conversing during the exam with no repercussions.
I have additionally had to sit through several tests and exams where the staff whom are supposed to be patrolling and preventing said cheating have been enjoy a casual chinwag regarding weekend plans…… oblivious to the activities around them.
Finally it is abundantly evident that many of the “teachers” have absolutely no desire to teach. labs start 15-30minutes late consistently yet if you do not finish in time you are docked a considerable percentage. and those running the labs talk down to students as if they where second class citizens.
Words can not even begin to expound as too how embarrassed and disappointed I am to attend this building.
Everyday I attend this”school” my hope diminishes, my confidence crumbles and I truly ask my self what is the point in it all?
This “institution” has broken me, all my progress, all my planning, all my hope….. deflated.
My view is this is one of the worst colleges in the whole world just run by greed and no real care for the students. Runs well by international students who just want to immigrate. Never go for nursing here for small mistakes do the whole semester again and takes money. At the sametime international nurse comes and join hospitals with no problems. Most of the colleges in those countries some you neednot even have to attend while sheridans screws the kids and steals money and put them in debt but back stabing as if doing good.
No one cares for your gossip. The page is actually hurting and impacting students mental well being on campus.
Many of the so called profs cant even speak English, let alone teach. Many of ’em won’t even respond to emails.
Library and study areas are over populated, loud, music blasting and stinks of fast food.
Washrooms are dirty, disgusting and broken.
All cushioned chairs are filthy and stained with God knows what.
You’ll also get forced to take 7pm to 10pm classes, even during Winter terms. 3hr classes then get shrunk into 1.5hrs or even less, ‘coz the profs’ don’t want to be there any more than the students do.
I’ve only written of my first hand experiences and not of any rumours or ‘he said/ she said’
If you want to get knowledge, do not go to this college.
Professors have no fucking idea what they are teaching.
If you want to get knowledge, stay home and learn by yourself, but do not pay this m***********s.
Complaining to the professors or the dean is next to useless as they won’t do anything.
You should be monitoring your school instead of a forum you rancid swine. Davis is disgusting.
1) Timetables are only sent out the day before classes.
2) Entire school smells like body odour and rotten curry.
3) They want you to fail so you have to repeat a semester $
4) The elective classes fill up forcing you to have to pay to take them during the summer $
5) Parking is atrocious
6) Sheridan is so bad that I tried to transfer my credits (straight As) to Mohawk and was straight up told that Mohawk doesn’t accept Sheridan nursing credits because their program is garbage and I’d have to start over from day 1 if I wanted to go there.
7) Creepy ass dudes everywhere tryna hit on /stalk you around campus.
Why are professors making us buy the textbooks when they’ll only be opened once or twice or not at all the whole semester? It makes no fucking sense whatsoever and it’s bullshit.
The professors here are mostly willing to help but one sticks out like a sore thumb. My web design professor threatened to deduct marks off my assignment because she couldn’t find my assignment in the zip file which apparently had too many files in them. How the f**k are you gonna deduct marks because you’re an incompetent piece of s**t professor
The amount of cheaters in the school is also really high. If caught, there is a huge chance that the professor might not do anything about it!
the campus itself, it looks like s**t and not well maintained. Lounge area looks and smells like s**t with uncleaned couches, electronic plugs sometimes don’t work and dirty washrooms in certain buildings of the school.
Overall, this if you’re looking for a great college experience, then you’re certainly not getting it here
During the lectures, almost all of the professor at Sheridan College spend their time with their stories and can barely explain anything. I had one prof who couldn’t even speak loudly.
I WILL SAY IT AGAIN. DO NOT GO TO THIS COLLEGE.
Their IT is a joke.
First, provincial law limits the number of foreign students. Sheridan takes advantage of this limit to the fullest extent much like all other Canadian schools to maximize their profits.
Second, the reason there appears to be a lot of “visible minorties” is not because they are foreign, it is because (1) the Mississauga and Brampton locations are close to communities that have a larger visible minority population AND the majority of these visible minorities are BORN IN CANADA – just like me. As Canada grows, there are many 2nd and 3rd visible minorties BORN in CANADA, paying the same ripp-off taxes and tuition just like you. So get over it. We don’t bite. Unless you want us to!
In a nutshell, in terms of degree programs, this school is no different than an online university. If you are disciplined enough to learn on your own, you can do well by not having to attend all classes. THis is one advantage and this is possible. However, if you are not disciplined enough to self-teach (likely you/the student is not, otherwise they would already be at a more reputable and real university) they flunk out!! Sheridan would then have successfully stolen your money too!
The teachers here, at least for the intro courses are sub-par..and most of them don’t really like teaching because they’re part-time and not paid well. The students are mostly international, not domestic. Nothing wrong with international students or anything, but as someone who doesn’t speak the language, it can be a bit hard to fit in or make friends due to the language barriers. But they’re nice students and generally pretty welcoming.
I was not a fan of the administration at all-I found a lot of things boiled down to the bottom line-to make money at the expense of students. And to bombard you with really pointless unnecessary courses that you don’t need. My advice is to do the challenge exams for those if you can, and save at least $500 per course.
As for parking and transit, those are in close availability, as is housing.
If anyone wants to talk about SDNE and my thoughts about the program, feel free to message. But after this semester I’m probably just going to pursue industry certifications because that’s a better use of money than a diploma from this college.
This school is known for their foreign program so the majority of students here are from other countries(mostly indian also significant asians and africans). Obviously this isn’t a problem, the only issue I find is making new friends due to the language barriers. If you aren’t very social then that wouldn’t matter.
From my experience the professors were nice and helpful. If you’re someone that’s just focused on getting your education then I think this school is fine. From my experience most students in my class were there to get their diploma and move on.
It’s a very tame place, if you’re looking for an outgoing social life with that lively college experience then this isn’t the best choice. This place has a relaxed environment and it’s very easy going. It’s okay, especially if you’re looking for something closer to home.
I’m just finishing my first semester, but it feels like I’ve been there forever. From what I’ve noticed this far, it is rather multicultural to say the least. It’s not as bad as some of the reviews say it is though. The smell is only ever noticed in the elevators and in line for Tim Horton’s from what I’ve noticed. Most of the staff I’ve met have all been very friendly. However, I do issue a word of caution. If you are in the Social Service Work program in the future and you notice a Nancy Reeves as your TEACHER (refuse to call her a professor) try and get that class switched to another. My reasons are: She’s hard to understand (thick African accent), she is extremely unorganized as her SLATE page looks like it went through a blender, she can’t spell at all! It’s actually kind of funny, but she critiques our grammar and spelling when her incompetence is out of the question. She’s extremely defense as calling her results in her saying “Who has a Master’s degree in social? Me or you?”…this was said in response to a student, who responded by saying “actually, the correct way of saying that would be you, or I”…I’m not kidding. She professes her. Christianity to the point where it’s unacceptable. She is rude, unprofessional, an incompetent to teach. Students have reported their concerns, but I do not have the time, nor should I make time to make a formal complaint, followed by a hearing (I’m sure) to back up said claims. She is the only major complaint I have for this institution…She claims to be in a PhD. S.W. program, I find that hard to believe, unless TriOs is giving out PhD’s now?
Here are the positives and negatives about Sheridan College (Davis campus):
Positives:
– Some professors are good. You have to pick these professors for your classes, if you are to learn anything.
– The campus is pretty safe overall. There is no gang violence or anything like that.
– The campus is pretty big and it is kind of beautiful.
– Plenty of restaurants and other stores nearby.
– Sheridan College has its own bus shuttle. Public buses are also available, so there is virtually no major transportation problem.
Negatives:
– Some of the professors don’t deserve to teach. They are probably not bad human beings, but they just can’t teach effectively. Some of these professors don’t even know how to use SLATE (the platform they use to upload notes and assignments) effectively.
– Sheridan College charges much higher fee compared to some other colleges. I don’t quite understand how can they charge this much, considering they are not a university. You can possibly get similar education at many other community colleges for much lower fees.
– They do not accept credit card or cash. Only thing they accept is debit card, which I find completely absurd. It is a pain on the backside to pay tuition fee at Sheridan College.
– Lectures are nothing special. You are not going to be job-ready, if you just follow Sheridan lectures. You have to do your own studying. Only thing Sheridan will give you is a paper, that says you have completed formal education.
– Apparently if you want to contact Sheridan College about information, you will have to call them. They do not list email addresses on their website. I find that pretty absurd, because not everyone likes to call.
Overall, I give this college and also the campus 2 out of 5. I think you can get similar education at other colleges for much lower fees.
these teachers DO NOT COMMUNICATE!!!! they come for class, and thats it. they do not help you in any way shape or form. like its my first year in university, this is quite confusing and they do not care!! :(
Two former students of George Brown College’s international business management program allege it didn’t have the ability to confer the industry designations it promised. They launched the lawsuit in October 2008, seeking $10 million in damages and an Ontario Superior Court judge has now certified it as a class action suit representing 119 former students.
The allegations have not been proven in court.
The students say they paid as much as $11,000 to attend the eight-month program. The calendar said the program would provide students with “the opportunity to complete three industry designations/certifications” in addition to a graduate certificate from the college, according to the students’ statement of claim.
Upon completion they learned they wouldn’t be receiving the industry designations referred to in the course calendar, the students allege. In his decision, Justice George R. Strathy said most students would have read the calendar description and that the prominence given to the industry designations would suggest they were significant.
“A class action will provide access to justice to a vulnerable group of students, many of whom are from different lands and culture,” Strathy wrote. “Class members may lack the individual resources, initiative and sophistication to pursue legal action on their own and may be intimidated by the legal process.”
Of the 119 former students, 78 were international students who don’t live in Canada — most of them coming from either China or India.

the comments above are dsheartning since i was planning to join sheridan
Class sizes are fine. Friendly teachers, nice facility. I’m in January start Art Fundies, I’m half way through and so far it’s a great course. Yes, a lot of us are way ahead in the arts, but even in a fundamentals course we still learn a lot. I would recommend to anyone who thinks they’re way ahead of the game who just needs to brush up on art, take life drawing. Most useful course.
Overall, brilliant school.
The school sis alright, don’t expect nothing. Not much diversity, a lot of brown people. Although it’s still growing, they should focus on making the quality of education rather than the interior designing of their new additions.
If you can, Humber is probably better, go there.
guyz u’ve no idea how much ur comments are valuable thanks all
Yes they had a good animation program IN THE EARLY 90’s. Now it’s a shadow of that. All the good teachers are gone, the program has not evolved. Disney does not recruit from there anymore (nobody does), those days are over, but Sheridan will ride that rep right into the ground taking all the money it can on the way. In fact most of the teachers there now are former students that failed in the industry and needed a job. Anyways back to the financial aid office.
I paid for the tuition out of my own pocket…that’s when everything went down hill as if I already paid tuition, then the Financial Aid office doesn’t care about anything else. I was hoping OSAP would help with my living fees. It took Sheridan 3 months and being treated like crap every time I walk into the financial aid office like I was bothering them by asking questions. 3 MONTHS well in school just to tell me I would not receive anything. It took a person all of 5 minutes to look at the numbers and tell me, and they could not be bothered doing that for 3 months. I was practically threatened to be kicked out if I questioned the Financial aid office and it’s horrible practices.
I loathe this school, if you want to be treated like a number and sheep being herded, Sheridan is the place for you.
ps f**k sheridan davis campus
at $3.500 for ‘prospective media arts’ students to gain experiance
for the 3rd year Media Arts Program? Wasted my cash & time for imovie?
I advise prospective students to avoid Sheridan!
Something needs to be done to improve the teaching faculty!
You know, I’m smart enough to do well in a any fair situation, someone from a middle class family like myself.
Can I give this a half a star?
GO TO HUMBER
If you are trying to decide between these two colleges, pick Humber. The teachers I had at Humber were professional, and actually care about the subjects that they teach, and they teach them well.
This past year at Sheridan I have encountered the worst teachers in my experience as a student. Teachers that use poorly organized online resources as the focus their teaching.
At Humber you have theory classes, with competent teachers, and then labs, where you get to actually get your hands dirty.
At Sheridan they had you a Kit of electrical equipment, electrical diagrams and expect the students to learn through trial and error.
SAVE YOURSELF THE TROUBLE.
I’m no slouch, I’m lucky i did a year at humber so I have some useful information to recall in labs. I feel bad for the guys in my classes who feel as though they’ re not bright enough for the material, when in fact its a result of Sheridan’s poor teachers.
Heavy favoritism, the vague 1 on 1 oral tests worth 15% of your final or more that is nearly impossible to prove or disprove the fact if this teacher did what he/she is supposed to be doing?
The only defense and it is working so far are the students using secret hidden video’s and audio recordings.
It works and there are over 30 of us monitoring our teachers now, but only when we believe we are being cheated in this way, as it is the law when you suspect wrongdoing. This year and last, some of us have proved these facts and the Dean has had no choice in reprimanding them as well as barring them from that class.
One idea of mine is that we should be able to demand on any reasonable grounds that an oral test be accompanied by an impartial witness who knows the test and can appeal and demand a test redo when this teacher isn’t following the rules. Usually a former student will do.
I don’t care why it’s being done, just the fact that it is rather shameful. I lost a semester already and it’s not going to happen again.
BTW, the Dean is unsympathetic to any students plight. Any injustice written to this person is immediate forwarded back to the teachers your accusing making them aware that you are complaining of them. The person doing it would have been outright failed if the person wasn’t recording his or her classes AGAIN! However, disciplinary measures were implemented to those teachers who tape recorded and presented to her.
The damage is done, there is a group of us who want their lost semester back. The evidence is mounting and some of us are thinking about going to the media. Do what you will with this story. Thank you for your time and consideration.
of the advanced film program. Sheridan College is
world famous for the CGI animation & film program.
But the reality is the jobs for graduates are very
few, if any at all!!
Sheridan college pitches a good game, but they fall
really short in networking students for jobs.
The IATSE 667 Camera Training program, is such a rip
off for students. IATSE has rejected plenty of sheridan grads, with this useless certificate. I would
suggest applying to Nabet 700 CEP, as a permittee.
Sheridan left me unemployed, with no support after graduation.
Your better off renting a camera/gear from Sim
Video, for example. And doing your own short film
editing on Final Cut Pro, entering film video festivals , networking with other independent
filmmakers at LIFT or the Canadian Film Centre.
Your bank balance will be better off, so will your
piece of mind. Which is worth much more than a useless diploma from Sheridan!
