7 Student Reviews of Vincennes University : Vincennes

  • I’m not sure from where all this negativity is coming. There are some fair assessments of the condition of some of the sidewalks (uneven brick) but recently VU has undergone a huge amount of repair/replace in infrastructure. I am a middle aged female who finished two (related) degree programs there, and I have to say that my education that I received there was world-class. Keeping in mind that this is an accredited community college and stripping away the superficial crap that people take out too many student loans to pay for in other institutions (plush dorms, spa-like fitness center…although VU’s is quite nice, dining options with seeming unlimited cuisine, over-touted sports teams) Vincennes University is an excellent return on the investment of your education dollars.

In regards to the sexual assaults that have allegedly taken place on campus, context is everything. I have taken night classes on campus, and I have never felt unsafe walking at night. There are police boxes located all over campus, and if you want an escort, security will give you one.

As for those who said they would never send their children there…their loss. I am proud of my two pieces of parchment from Vincennes University, and I intend to send my children there when the time comes (for their first two years).

    Overall Score: (4.09/5.00)
  • A 20 year old girl was raped at the campus. Who in there right minds would want to stay there or even be there. I personally would not feel safe. I would never out my kids there. Please keep the family in your prayers.

  • Vincennes University has a decent campus, at best. A five minute walk from one end to the other isn’t bad, but all is paved with brick. Uneven brick. Not only is it hazardous to walk on when in a hurry and not paying attention, but when it rains, Every part of the sidewalk is flooded.
There have been multiple student deaths in the last few years and many can be attributed to Greek life. Men, DO NOT join any Fraternities, all have lost accreditation for various reasons. Sigma Pi seems to be the place to go, but they have lost their accreditation for multiple reports of drugs in drinks and raping girls. Also, they seem to think they are better than everyone else. The area around campus is okay at best. Be imaginative in trying to find something to do.. Because there isn’t much around. When it comes to the school itself, it is okay. Classes are small which isn’t always beneficial, professors like to single students out and hold them to higher standards because of their backgrounds. Also, the university seems to let the most redneck, inbred, white trash students around. Some students shock me with their knowledge, or lack there of. This University does not look good on a resume, and is a complete joke. Do Not attend.

  • My experience at Vincennes is that if you are just looking for a place to receive a good Education, then, Vincennes University is a fine choice. The professors for the most part were good. The Campus itself is not bad and is pretty well kept up and aesthetically the campus is well maintained with flowers etc. The town however, does not offer much to do. The Campus life is like most other colleges and universities that I’ve seen. Kids away from home, do what kids will do, and this is anywhere you go so I can not give it a bad rap. I’ve been here for two and a half years, I have not seen nor experienced any major problems as far as feeling safe on campus.

    Overall Score: (3.18/5.00)
  • Yeah I’ve been here for about a year now and if I have any advice to give it would be this. Do not come here. This is literally the worst place I’ve ever been. Dorms are crap. They are falling apart literally. Most of the student population is on drugs. There have been multiple rapes, and deaths in this year alone. Seriously, an entire frat house has been closed down here because of all the date rapes happening in it. The teachers aren’t too bad, but the regular staff are pretty rude. Campus P.D. will ride you hard for almost anything. There is limited parking. If you live on campus this is a pretty major issue. I usually have to walk about 10 blocks to get to my car. People here are completely rude and will fill every racial stereotype you have ever seen. Trains run through the town all hours of the day, and you will always get caught at the tracks. The town itself is falling apart. Lots of sketchy neighborhoods around campus. If you are a girl never walk around campus after sunset without an escort because you will likely get raped. Guys will probably be robbed. The price is okay I guess, and this school will accept almost anyone, but it’s really not worth it. Don’t say you weren’t warned.

  • Vincennes university suck

  • I am currently in the Advanced Manufacturing major at VU and from what i’ve seen in the rest of the world no other school offers what this major does. If you are interested in the machine trades and CNC programming this is the school to attend. The rest of the campus isn’t that great and the town sucks. The instructors I have dealt with are great.

    Overall Score: (3.45/5.00)
