UCW has new owners which is equivalent to new strategies that are gradually generating new and good results.
A new building, recent accreditations on study programs, excellent recruiting and customer service.
I personally think that there are many frustrated students around here who did not get their visa, who did not pass their classes and who must always blame others for their failures and the best way to express it is through negative opinions. I am from Latin America and currently due to the pandemic I started the classes in online format. I will take responsibility for my results as a student and will not blame the university. A good student will always be a good student and a future good professional by his or her own effort. I hope to be able to start face-to-face classes soon.

All those bad reviews, I think, are understandable and being acknowledged, but those we’re all the PAST. As I have read, those we’re issues with the previous owner of UCW.
I think it is better to spread positivity and hope especially for those students whose currently studying in UCW rather than hateful comments.

As a result, I believe it is not the best university maybe but it was more than good enough for my brother who has limited budget. He earned his MBA degree at a lower cost than many public colleges , cost and post graduate work permit was important for us and university canada west was suitable for this purpose.
ıf you have really high grades and lots of money, you can find better universities of course. But if you donot want to pay a fortune, you can choose this university. But for undergraduate programsi I think studying in a campus would be better. so I recommend for MBA mostly.

I gave 2 stars for “Housing Situation” because UCW doesn’t operate a residence. And Vancouver has a very tight rental market.
I gave 4 starts to Networking and Job Opps because whenever students post negative comments, professionals don’t want to associate with UCW. So tone down the comments, people, and come back to reality. All schools, including the ones you received your undergraduate degrees from are for profit whether they’re public or private.
Some people blame others whenever something doesn’t go well in their lives but stop blaming others and take responsibility for yourselves. After all, if you supposedly received Bachelor degrees, then you know how to research.

I have contacted Eminata group and i was told that their legal counsil Drew Lawrenson has left the company.
Even their website is not working for last couple of months.I have also been told that the banks have stopped giving them line of credits

January 2012- Ex- Vice Chancellor Verna Maggie Shepherd expresses her apology to me in writing for the delay in refund and inconvenience.
March-June 2012- Drew Lawrenson- Legal Counsel engages in email exchanges for three months proving UCW’s negligence on account of loss of my refund request as well not transferring the refund in my account through wire transfer, he stopped communicating and responding to my emails.
Now October 2012 Mr. Triplett ,Board Steward –is stating “The delay was result of error by university (the student had said funds to be wired but cheque was issued)”
October 2012- Lisa- Marketing and Media Relations Manager(UCW) “The delay was due to incorrect banking details provided by student….”

I am filing a complaint agaist Sai Chander and his brother in Hyderabad police station. I want them to be in jail for promoting this fraud university.
I know why they do this to us students becuase no new students are joining UCW and the campus is like death now. There are only a few classes happening and they have no students who are studying here anymore.

Ben Thapa was working with Lans Bridge University and Phoenix University in Vancouver, both the universities were shut down. You can Google and read it yourself. He has excellent track record of closure and ensuring failure of Universities.

Imagine 4 hours with a guy who never stops talking, yet says absolutely nothing of value. He claims to give substantial feedback, yet I got a 1 word response to my paper and a low grade. He keeps us there for the full time, even though he clearly has nothing of value to stay.
I am sorry, I tried asking this guy questions and he made me feel like I was a totally idiot. When I am paying this much to go to a private university, I’d expect staff to give some attention to the students.

Daren actually talks more than he should. He is a tough instructor which is fine (I am an A student by the way), but he repeats things over and over again. I am disappointed because I didn’t learn as much as I expected.

I went to Ben Thapa to ask for refund, he told me to see Saurabh Vashisth. Now these two are telling me that once I receive my visa I cannot get a refund. What the f**k is that?? UCW does not show campus photos on their presentation, on their website or any brochures, I am feeling completely cheated and now I cannot get my parents money back either. Ben Thapa says that UCW MBA is great and UCW will help me find jobs, but old students just told me that internship programs are not even working in UCW. All students are working illegally and working labour jobs. My parents will be very dissapointed as we have taken huge loans to support tuition fees.

all those looking for refunds CAN and WILL get it. We know that you do not like UCW and the UCW marketing and management team lied to you all to have you in the university.
First of all Canadian and Permanent students must write to Cassidy Oliver at The Province newspaper about the issues with UCW and also to the Ministry of Advanced Education to ensure that they know what UCW is doing to your future. You will be guaranteed a refund on the tuition that you have wasted at UCW by going to the media. Its your right, you do not have to suffer like us students in Victoria.
We have been informed that UCW is forcing international students to continue at the university by not issuing refunds since you are not happy with the university. It your right to leave the university if you feel that this is not a good university and it will hurt you. As long as you are a serious student and can obtain an offer letter from another credible institution and have not entered Canada to work illegally, you have the full right to leave UCW. They cannot hold your money under any circumstances. You must write to Cassidy Oliver as well to explain the situation to him and bring it in the media. Many such reporters will listen to your concerns and this will bring the truth out in the open. CBC, Globe and Mail, The Province and a few others have all been informed and are working on the story as we speak. Come out and speak to them immediately otherwise UCW will steal your money and ruin your life.
You must also inform immigration and Ministry of Advanced Education after you get admission from another institution. UCW should not be allowed to escape and completely destroy your futures. Even your own countries will not recognize these degrees.

After Eminata bought UCW, first order of business was to target immigrant students because they tend to be pushovers and less likely to complaint about anything. I was instructed to inform an Indian student that if he complaints about the school, he will loose his student visa immediately. The student promptly shut up. Management quoted “international students are fatter pigs and easier to be slaughtered.”. It was funny how they said it in a meeting. I quit!
I saw the devastation these tactics have caused and finally threw in the towel. The teachers are good people, it is the direction from the very top that made the difference of life or death.

SUbject: Unethical, Integrity Issues, Unfair Practices and Unacceptable Behavior
“It is not known what “PRIVATE” college you received your education from, but it is
obvious that you did not gain any schooling on people management. Your managerial
skills are so poor that your employees are surprised that you have survived this long in
the corporate world. Sometimes they question the intelligence of this company for hiring
such an incompetent individuals such as yourself.” – common quote from the majority.
The purpose of this letter is to notify you ALL but most importantly Dr. Peter Chung
about what upper, middle, and lower management is doing behind his back and the
negative and devastating effect it’s about to take on the company(s).
We’re a group of people who work for the EMINATA group and a large number of
students who have attended a school at some point owned by EMIN AT A group who have
decided enough is enough. We have started a systematic attack on this company to make
things ethical and fair not only to the employees of the company but the general student
body and public. We are giving Dr. Peter Chung an opportunity to learn and take
personal responsibility as to what is happening behind his back and most importantly to
make things right. So the same mistakes are not repeated from the past like they were in
LA. We wish someone had given you heads up and we’re very confident you would have
resolved the issues in a proper and ethical manner.
Let’s start with unfair practices:
Mid and low level management hires who they want (friend, girlfriend, boyfriend, family,
ex-coworkers) and this is by them deciding which positions to advertise and which ones
not too. Their qualifications are always overlooked and rest of the people are asked to
cover for their work because they’re “NEW”. We demand that you ask your staff and get
a consensus of who hired who and who do they know within the company and if they
worked together elsewhere.
Campus directors and most new regional directors have no clue as what PCTIA policies
are and are always breaking them but most importantly what can really get EMINAT A
shut down entirely is the FACT that both regional directors and campus directors
COACH the staff to fool PCTIA. We have a proof of this in mwtiple forms and we are
100% confident that no court system will throw this out the window. Campus directors
are not following exam policies written by the company when it comes to students failing
exams and are not unifonn. We have proof some directors make indirect sexual favors to
give an attractive student another attempt where if a unattractive or old student it’s a
complete NO.
There is way too much staff recycled from SPROTT -SHAW, VCAD, AI, MTI,
ACADAMY OF LEARNING, etc. Think about it this way, if these rejects were not
successful their why do you have them hired here? Are they friends perhaps? Someone
else’s garbage is now your garbage and you’re paying them to keep this garbage. People
like Vic Tesan have infested this company by bringing in his friends and family who
have gotten more incompetent heads into this company. Did you know they have also
gotten free education for their family and friends as well? A fair practice would be to hire
and promote within if you want success. There are a lot of dedicated staff that should be
promoted. We have a list of most of the people who have hired in this manner and they
know who they’re and majority are struggling to gain control.
Remember the person you hired to run your company is the same person who was
bidding against you with CCI to buy it out under your nose with his “investors”. This is
how the price was driven up and Randy Cox couldn’t come up with the funds to outbid
Dr. Peter Chung. Talk about sabotage, and we have voice and video proof of Randy
blabbering his mouth about going public so he and his hired friends can take control of
the company because they them you’re a cheap Korean Jew. This is the best tip here
alone is worth what you’re going to spend in legal fees.
Since our numbers have been growing faster than we expected we have decided to fonn a
student union because no one should be treated unfairly and to get Employment
Standards involved we the majority employees are fonning a union to put an end to
unfairness. We are watching all levels of management and keeping detailed records and if
changes are not made and implemented within this month class action law suits will take
place from both employees and student side and we would hate to see this company
repeat it’s mistakes and get crippled twice as it did in LA. We want to see all the
incompetent staff from other schools fired who keep bringing in their friends and bully
the old staff.
You have staff from other institutions that constantly talk to their friends and share trade
secrets on how EMINATA operates. We have recordings of this and campus level staffis
willing to take a stand to this statement. There are also plans to take control of the
company as soon as it goes public. Someone is having power/control issues.
Student Issues:
Integrity issues due to campus directors no following policy and giving students false
hope as there are too many ESL students that are setup to fail by sales people and this
practice is promoted by the campus directors and DOA.
Too many mid-level managers hired who are friends of rejects from other organizations.
Basically the staff keeps changing every few months and students are frustrated because
they’re promised different things by different people. The directors are not taking
responsibility .
Students feel frustrated with the campus directors because they cannot fulfil what has
been promised to the student. Students are being enrolled in a unethical manner
sometimes two or three months before their actual start dates. This leaves huge gaps in
their schedules and student load frowns upon this and will be notified. You are messing
with innocent people and their lives by wasting someone two months of time and messing
up their car payments or mortgage payments.
Student body has determined that this company’s goal is profit or market dominance at
any price because there are more students now under new ownership that the reps have
brought in who are crap quality and don’t deserve to be in school at this point in their life
because they lack the basic reading and writing skills. Students have complained the fact
reps are helping students cheat with the entrance exams and make them do it over and
over.
It has come to our attention that a certain DOA has sexually engaged Vancouver students
and staff and as a reward they’ve been promoted. DOA is a piece of garbage that hits on
every student and makes negative and sexual comments towards students and staff.
Sexual favors have been performed and documents. He has been seen drunk with students
at bars and touching them in a very inappropriate manner. Proof and legal action
pending …

I got a reply from the Canadian High Commission telling me that they have noted the complaint and are passing the same to visa section and have provided me the contact to Ministry Advanced Education in British Columbia so that I can inform them of my problem.
Now I will also be sending this issue to Ministry of Education as well. I want my money now!!! I have many obligations here in India.
Not a single student, out of group of about 10 students, stayed back to sign with them. We have reported this matter to Ministry of Human Resources to take up with Canadian consulate in New Delhi, to stop such swindlers of education system to come to India.

In their presentation, they only talked about quality of life in Vancouver. They had nothing to say about the quality of university, campus, professors. They were selling university like insurance or mutual funds sales man.

Immigration is also looking at the university’s fradulent methods to recruit Chinese, Indian and other international students. China govt is also not approving UCW for their students!!!!!!

I am a student of UCW in Vancouver, I have just dropped out of UCW after 2 terms of studying here and moved to FDU which is not only a superior university but actually a university.
Do you know how many students actually joined UCW lately??? The enrollment is down as even international students do want join UCW any longer. All my current friends at UCW feel UCW will be closed in 9 months!!!!

I finally decided to change my university because I went to apply for a internship with RBC and they asked me WHAT IS UNIVERSITY CANADA WEST??? The bank is 1 block from UCW and still no one knows or cares about this university!!

When I inform them that I am leaving, student services threaten me that they will inform immigration, I said go ahead and do it and I will file a formal complaint against UCW with immigration. 1. Please share success stories of at least 5-10 students who got a job upon graduating from this university. Did the employers come to the university to hire these students? Ask for a list of companies that recognize and hire from this university?

You do not even know that your Dean has an online PHD university from another crappy university. Its on her wall!!! She shows it off to students so proudly as if its from Harvard. You certainly did not do your due diligence. You having received a paper from a diploma mill does not mean you graduated, you did not graduate from UBC or SFU, it is UCW with rubbish washed up faculty.
University Canada West is the only university in Canada that doesnt know where the campus will be in next few months. They told me that UCW will move soon, but from my research they have moved 4-5 times already and the Victoria campus closed down. Great university huh??? Students will never know where they will be by early next year. This university will close down and you paper degree will be not be good enough to wipe your behind!! Just wait and watch, only advise to all students looking at this university, go elsewhere, otherwise you will have nothing but a loss of time and money and a whole lot of grief.

I was told by her that the online degree does not matter and it is as good as UBC?? Are you serious?? I went through the admissions process at UCAN via a guy called Harold and when I asked all the bad reviews for the university, he told me that his boss some Subhasha Kutan will call me to assure me that the university reputation is great. So far never got that call and still waiting?? I am going to TRU instead.
My visit to the rubbish excuse for a campus was horrible. It’s a depressing place and the staff are just lost. Harold told me that they have internships for students, but when I asked the students if that was true, I was told that not even one had got any opportunity. the current students advised me that I am making a mistake by coming here and I will waste my money and be in debt all my life. The foreign students are so unhappy but have no choice.
So RB next time you open your mouth or write something listen to others concerns as well. THIS IS AN EMINATA school just like the stupid CDI and has no quality instructors just offers washed people who are looking to make money from you and leave you high and dry. Good luck out there. Private college doesn’t mean bad, it means that the people who own them pay the tax dollars that fund the community college seats in public education. We hear stories from both sides but mostly we hear only positive stories from people who choose to be successful.
For example, they give MBA to students who cant speak english and do math or write a proper essay. In real schools they would be expelled but here they just want your money, so they will keep any student even if they are very stupid.

First, the Victoria campus is an old and grungy Elementary school. The campus is a complete joke. Then there is the Vancouver campus. The admission to the school is a joke. The student body is made up of 95% students from India because the school markets to Indian people in India. They tell them that the school is highly reputable. THe Vancouver campus is in an office building…JOKE!
Final Advice…..DON’T WASTE YOUR TIME HERE. The “Admissions” people are Sales people who will do whatever it takes to get you to apply. Everyone is accepted. The company is Bullshit and is run by garbage.

Their Admissions Staff (or Sales People) have weekly targets that they have to reach. They all report to a VP of Student Recruitment named Joseph. I actually applied to this school and when I came to the realization that it is a scam, I wanted to cancel and was told by the Admissions staff person that I would have to speak to their VP Joseph. He called me and kept trying to convince me that the school was the best choice for me. I felt like I was talking to a used car salesman. That Joseph person even tried to bribe me by offering me a few classes for free. He told me he has his MBA and when I asked him where he got it from he said he couldn’t tell me…This company gives people VP titles like candy.
GO TO A UNIVERSITY THAT IS REPUTABLE. THIS IS NOT ONE OF THEM.
I’ve chosen to keep confidential because I don’t want the school to contact me anymore! I’ve enrolled into UBC for the MBA program and couldn’t be happier.

Canada West is not a member of AUCC because AUCC is only for universities which are chartered by provincial legislation; particularly in Canada, this identity happens to equal to quality education. It has few students because the cost-benefit doesn’t work for most (or almost all) prospective students. (It would work if it’s either really cheap for what it is, or keep its high tuition rate but attain a more solid standing.)
It is true that their MBA is not a full-fledged MBA, since an MBA (especially in North America) should require GMAT scores well above 500 as well as professional work experience, neither of which they require. This does matter, because the students’ qualifications determine the level of teaching and training.
What “Alex” says is correct, but isn’t entirely correct; the MBA from Canada West can degrade your resume only if you try to equate it with a normal MBA, or if your career demands you to take MBA training very seriously, (which, ironically enough, is what MBA-based careers do). However, for non-MBA occupations, Canada West’s MBA actually still a bonus in the resume. Personally, I’m guessing that the confusion comes in thinking about it as a university; that wouldn’t make any sense. However, if one sees it as a private vocational training institution, actually maybe it’s not that bad.
There is a difference between a scam and a crappy school, and there is a difference between a diploma mill and a crappy school. A scam takes your money and literally run with it, and a diploma mill grants unauthorized degrees without time commitment or studying process. University Canada West has actual courses and coursework requirements, as well as governmental authorization, so it’s not a scam or diploma mill. You can despise it, but it’s not a scam; it’s just honest crap.
I was also called by Silvester Baskoro, who also led me through a bunch of slides which took about an hour. After the slide show presentation, he expected me to get my credit card and apply right away. I told him i need time to think about this decision, since $150 is alot of money, which is also non refundable. Also this is my future here, I would prefer to make a concrete decision rather then to rush it.
They don’t even bother with the GMAT testing for their MBA program. They said that the GMAT testing is used by other universities for “filtering students”. They would rather assess you on academics alone. Also, University of Canada West is not even listed in the Association of Universities and Colleges of Canada (AUCC). Which makes me question this university even more.
I also teach at Royal Roads and Vancouver Island University, and many of the other UCW profs also taught at these places, and at UVic – so the standard of instruction was directly comparable to other local institutions. I would say that in that period, the students got a really great education.
I don’t know what it’s like now, but it is worth investigating. If you want a degree, and haven’t got the grades to get into a conventional school, this place might still work out for you.
