So how is that possible when you already have the clinic hours needed? Well now that there are so many complaints about the school they want to try to change the things they have said and do the “sweet talk”. They teach you that you need to always have documentation of all your clients but they bring high school kids without their parents and say that you are the parents consent and that there’s no need to document anything. Really? What kind of professionals are you teaching us to be and if they don’t need consent why not show us proof of their age?
Apparently we need to be treated with the “hammer” like the director says if we don’t follow the rules. I know there’s always students everywhere that are problematic but there’s professional ways to speak to students. If you have students who are not following the rules, deal with them individually. The ones who came to study,learn and graduate don’t need to be belittled because of your past experiences.
We are all adults and not little kids that need to be intimidated to make sure we follow the rules. It seems that all that matters at this school is making money and not education. This school has the potential to be a great one but until they change the administration and hire actual professional people things will remain the same.
Classroom education lacked the feel of a professional environment. The instructors had conflicting point of views on massage and this became very confusing. I learned more about massage therapy from Youtube.com and Massagenerd.com. than I have in my time of formal education. The teachers seemed to lack in overall technique, relied on theories about massage that were not scientifically validated, and were often unprepared for the day. Classroom materials were almost nonexistent and many of our luxuries were hand-me-downs from the administration.
The office staff has a lack of professionalism that I have never witnessed in a place of business. They are disruptive during classroom hours, unorganized, and are in constant meetings when needed. The financial aide department does not explain contracts in a manner that is clear to the signer and answer questions in a way that benefits them and leaves the client completely in the dark about their financial obligations.
Overall, this school is a complete waste of money. The educational value is poor, the monetary value is absurd, and the real life experience is slim. If you are going to spend money to attend school, choose a program that has a professional staff because this place has an ever-changing team that doesn’t understand what it takes to run a school.
I began my education in a small, dingy room. There was not enough seats for the students. The floors were absolutely filthy and possessed various forms of gunk. My allergies immediately began to show signs of discomfort. I began to sweat due to the fact that it was still summer and the air conditioning unit was not on and upon request, the staff said it was not possible for the air conditioning system to be turned on. Along with this, this room was dark and lit only by the windows of the room (the blinds were later closed due to the extreme heat). I did my work mostly in the dark; uncomfortable from the heat and the onset of allergy symptoms I was experiencing. During my interview, the staff member I spoke to looked out of their office window as a group of students were passing and acknowledged them with a brief statement;
“It’s only 11 o’clock and their already done for the day.”
I would soon learn that this was also a lie. It was their lunch and they were to return as the newer student body was reminded repetitively that we signed a contract that would keep us in school from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. It resonated against the room as some sort of childish threat and the adolescent atmosphere did not cease from that point.
My first month of school played host to a teacher leaving and not being replaced accordingly; a rude, obnoxious, and uncertified teacher’s assistant; another teacher lost due to termination (an administrator filled the position); and one teacher for four classes. I sat through incredibly long classes in which the teacher simply read from the book, mispronouncing key words as they went along. The staff could not answer questions and seemed confused at times along with the students.
As my second month came into view, I was already very sick and had encountered several visits to various doctors. My body was marked with hives and my throat felt tight almost constantly. Because of a heart defect, I can not use an epinephrine pen. I was also dealing with severe TMJ, and cyclic vomiting syndrome. Through this, I was able to keep up with my work (which was gernally the same routine for everything) and called Blue Cliff and explained them my situation. The person I talked to seemed willing to help me and assured me they would. I was told to wait for a phone call that I am still waiting on and can not return to school. The sanitaion conditions are horrible and are a direct danger to my well-being. The only room that is cleaned is the front office and during a hydrotherapy course, the teacher was trying to remember to tell the office to “pass a vaccum” in the room because there was paraffin wax everywhere.
I wouldn’t recommend this school to my worst enemy. I feel dishonesty is a sign of a person with no honor. Because this has become the hallmark of this school, it is was place without honor. Currently, I have been told three seperate occassions the school will be moving; next month, next January, and March. I have also been told by students about to graduate that they were told they wouldn’t be in that building for long. I’m not holding my breath…
