5 student reviews of Eastern Illinois University

  • Josey says:

Eastern Illinois University is an exceptional institution that not only prepares you in your academic field of choice, but gives you the skills and materials you would need in the outside work force. The faculty and staff go above and beyond to make you feel more than just a number. We have a small student to faculty ratio, affordable high quality tuition, and a variety of student registered organizations you could get involved in. If you are looking for an institution that will exceed your expectations, this is the school for you.
    Overall Score: (5.00/5.00)

  • Kevin says:

I attended Eastern for a graduate program in the late 1990’s, having completed my undergraduate degree elsewhere. Solid, affordable program for the money. Charleston leaves something to be desired.
    Overall Score: (3.45/5.00)

  • Erin says:

Things may be different there now, but I graduated in seventies, and it was a hell hole for me. I spent three years there, overloading every quarter, so I could get out of there faster. Director of housing was vicious–guy in charge of scheduling was vicous and nuts–counselors were worthless–lot of loser teachers, but a few memorable great ones like Silverstein in English and Fergie and Kramer in zoology. When I was a teacher, I always discouraged students from attending Eastern. I won’t call it a university because it isn’t really–just a small poorly run college. I graduated with honors in case anyone thinks this is just sour grapes.

  • Sherry says:

I have just walked out hurt because teachers was abusive and rude! Both the teachers and faculty staff members don’t know what they are doing! They don’t know how to treat people right either! Students were discriminated no matter who and what they are. Especially deaf and handicapped students who were discriminated that they walked or rolled out! I’ve seen one student got the door slammed at her face by the disability office. Kathy Wagner should have been fired for abusing students like that! NO ADA either! EIU is a HELL of the devil. I’ll never go back there again! Bye-bye EIU. You sucks badly!
    Overall Score: (1.27/5.00)

  • Sarah MacIsaac says:

I used to go here. Some of the teachers could actually teach, while others didn’t seem to know what they were doing. Some of the fraternities and sororities were extremely rude to non-greek students. The administration seemed in over its head. Many of the buildings didn’t comply with ADA (Americans With Disabilities Act) and state/federal fire safety/safety codes. Things were promised, but rarely done. Some students were discriminated against because of who they are and how they choose to live their lives. It was one step from a mix between Hell on Earth and a huge nightmare.
    Overall Score: (2.73/5.00)
