One Student Review of Hugh Baird College : Bootle

  • I attended Hugh Baird collage in 2002, while I was there I studied A-S English, History and ICT. I picked the collage because it was the closest one to me that was doing the courses that I wanted to do. At the time the building of the collage where actually quite good and since then not much has changed. The staff where always friendly and nice one of them even discover the fact that I had dyslexia and got me a lot of help with this. Saying that the was a lot of absences with staff both on my History and ICT courses with the History being run by the student teacher that had come in just to observe the lessons. The curriculum was very good for both the English and History but in the ICT it was teaching what I would later to find out a lot of outdated information. The actual ICT equipment was good for the time, it was just the teaching that when I finished collage left me far behind other student who had attended other collages. The faculties at the collage was very good with the cafe area being excellent and the food that was being served was very appetising which is saying a lot for school food in the UK. The collage is in bootle and to put it bluntly it is a dive of an area in liverpool, my parents had to move away from the area because they where harassed that much and the shops etc in the area are not that great, you can get everything you would need close but you will normally pay more then the going price for something.
