One Student Review of Miami-Jacobs Career College: Troy

  • I was one of those poor unfortunate souls who signed up for the LPN Program at the Troy MJCC campus. You know one of those whose now stuck paying for a high interests student loan, and no certification to show for it! One of those students who went to school every day wondering who the teacher was going to be. Because they seemed to rotate through the doors every day! Seriously. I had a different teacher every week, for about nine weeks in one of my classes. I paid for a Pharmacology class, and material, and I bet we used the book and had homework twice! My anatomy and phys teacher would spend a week going over a chapter, give us a study guide, and then test us on material we never went over, and in most cases, was the next chapter. Students complained, but nothing was done. Until two weeks before the end of the semester, and she was fired. We then had another teacher take over, and he tried to teach us 11 weeks of material in 2 weeks, for two classes!

We was constantly told not to worry about them not being accredited, they were accredited, so we shouldn’t worry. We do not have to worry about anything. Everything will work out. We’ll get through class, and working as nurses before we know it!

Of course not sure how that was going to happen, since they were hiring teachers who wasn’t qualified, and never taught the right material anyway.

They do not have the LPN courses anymore. They lost that right. However, they do have other programs. My warning is not to trust them! DO NOT TRUST THEM! They will lie to you! They will tell you what you want to hear, to get their cash! Do not be like me. Stuck paying for a loan, and nothing to show for it! Be smart. Go to a real college!
