While I admit, somtimes it’s difficult to get a hold of someone, I’m just as bad. When your schedule is packed it’s difficult to even make time to utilize the facilities. However, someone always gets back with me. I have loved every one of my professors and teachers, even the ones I didn’t get along with due to different viewpoints. I have learned so much from each of them and am thankful for all the assistance I received.
PPCC is a great school with very hardworking staff. Sometimes, there are staff members that forget not everyone is the same but….if you treat them right, they will treat you the same way.
Some advice…if you’re not getting a response by phone or email…physically go to the school. Many people have difficulty contacting me but when we’re face to face, it’s easier. Take responsibility for yourself.
I really do not know what these other peoples problems are. Maybe high expectations from a community college or entitlement issues? Either way it is a good school for what it is and I have learned quite a bit.
I think its a bit overpriced, even if your an in-state resident going to the campus like I am. Then again, I think all of our countries higher educational system is overpriced.
Now on to financial/student aid for which the name itself is like a slap in the face, for any indication of help to be used in its name is a boldfaced lie. Wait in line for an hour only to be misinformed, lied to, or completely swept aside and have to do the whole thing over again with a different mindnumb drone in hopes you got the right information this time. You can see where the schools’ priorities lie by simply viewing the amount of help or lack thereof, manning the desks. You may also notice that returning students get the short end of the stick with the help provided as new student lines are often manned twice as well as the returning student lines. Sign them up at all costs, once you’re in enjoy the wait and apathy you will be faced with on any given day you decide to punish yourself by dealing with these people. The “help” here almost seem to be sworn to secrecy as it is soly up to you as a new student to find out any and all information for yourself as these silent wonders will do nothing to give you a clue about what comes next or how to get there, but hey they do produce a wonderful book with this information that is ironically entitled “Why wasn’t I told?”. you’ll need to find the book in various locations around campus for yourself, usually stacked under or next to class schedules. Prepare to be very proactive about learning the ropes for yourself even after attending orientation, which will cover none of the issues you will have. But on a positive note there’s day old popcorn in the lobby. Enjoy.
What you save financially by attending this school you will pay for in stress and tears. The curriculum is up to par if only the class offerings and faculty were as well. You may have to drive between three campuses on any given day to make your full time status. Classes required for graduation are offered once a year, what do you do when you are near graduation like me and this class is not being offered for another two semesters? Underwater basketweaving anyone? Keep them attending and paying seems to be the fix here.
For me the old adage “You get what you pay for” seems to be a recurring theme for this school. I could go on and on about what this school lacks and given that the supposed low tuition also means very little in the way of events or sporting basically put the school on par pricewise with any other decent school around. Save yourself the grief and attend a school where the admissions advisors actually reply to your emails and calls and you can get a straight answer about your aid.
