4 student reviews of Shimer College

  • Daniel Shiner says:

Awesome college. They take kids as young as 15 who hate high school but are very intelligent (you don’t need a high school diploma to get into Shimer). Average class size 10 students. Students are smart, amazingly diverse, considerate, and accepting of everyone. The most intelligent and caring professors, who work personally with every student–as much as you need or want. Hardly surprising that Shimer graduates almost always end up in the grad school or career of their choice (25% of Shimer graduates go on to receive doctoral degrees, a far higher percentage that Harvard, Stanford, Yale, or any similar school). If you love to read, think high school is a joke, and consider most of your high school classmates jerks, Shimer is probably for you. Just check your ego at the door, because anyone who has been at Shimer more than a year is almost certainly way smarter than you are…though they will never claim to be. A stunning experience–what college should be, but (almost) never is.

No complaints; easily the best education you will find in the United States.
