UC is a great campus for social lites. The architecture is breathtaking and leaves tons of space for anything from studying outside in Sigma Sigma commons, to a walk with the cute guy you met at the rec through Nippert stadium. A ton of restaurants and small shops were recently built right on campus called USquare. From Body Central to boutique style Alter’d State, even Urban Outfitters are just steps away from campus, girls you’ll never have trouble finding outfits for the countless themed parties. Greek Life is awesome but not always necessary. If that’s something you’re into… you’ll have a ball at Sig Ep SAE and Pike on the weekend, but there are house parties up and down campus, especially when the weather is up to par. I’ve been to Fratby, Jersey, Wolf on Wallstreet, Mardigras, and countless themed parties just in my freshman year. There are 3 bars on campus but all 21, so get a fake or stick to frats and houses. There’s also Mt. Adams and Newport…(look up if 21) As academics go, I had a variety of class styles and professors. My A&P class has 350 people in it and was obviously lecture style, taught by a middle ages American woman, but was broken down in a lab every Thursday with about 15-25 people. hen again I had an algebra class with about 30 people, and a foreign male teacher from Peru, so it really just depends on your schedule when it comes to professors and class style. I enjoyed the meal plan and having it was kind of another social thing, “saying hey to people you see in call at the food court type thing”. There are a ton of intermural sports teams and other clubs for anything you can think of. Starting your own club is always an option too! I know a lot of people question crime, living in Cincinnati. I personally have never ran into any trouble, and I have never felt unsafe on campus. Always stay with someone no matter what at ANY campus, especially when drinking and going out! Just keep basic scenario in mind and try to keep your best safety at interest when making decisions walking around the streets in and outside of campus and you shouldn’t have any trouble! Other then its location being Ohio, UC is the place to be.
